City Life vs. SimCity 4: Comparisons, Advantages, Disadvantages
BurroDiablo replied to LivingInThePast's topic in City-Building Games
Yeah, City Life really didn't offer much in the way of acctual city simulation... there wasn't much choice for transit either... plus, there was about a maximum of 5 different buildings for each culture... made you cities very VERY repetitive and boring... And I agree that SC4 was fun without mods... its alot more fun with them, but to begin with, it was fun without... I lasted a year untill I started looking for mods. Acctually, when my PC crashed and I lost everything in November 2004, the sites (I think it was Sim City Central) got rid of its downloads section so I never had anymore mods untill I joined Simtrop last March. -

Haha... wasn't that song on a Family Guy episode? Im sure it was... Anyway... Korn- Thoughtless -
Heh, thanks Giligone... personally, I wouldn't (i've placed toooooo many CCTV camera's... its creepy). Awesome pic by the way, theres alot of Maxis buildings, but for some reason, that doesn't spoil the pic... It makes it acctually. Think i've been without Maxis buildings for so long i'm starting to go "Wow, whats the building? Where can i download it?" and people are saying "Umm... I comes with the game" and then they slap me untill i'm half dead... oh... 9/10 Cjah- Is he missing a leg... or resting waiting for the missus to bring along the picnic? Whatever he's doing, the woman behind him doesn't seem to be too happy with the re-decorating he's done to the house 9/10 Heres another, not really that facinating-

City Life vs. SimCity 4: Comparisons, Advantages, Disadvantages
BurroDiablo replied to LivingInThePast's topic in City-Building Games
City life was enjoyable for the short term, but when you acctually started making money, alot of the time it never went down and the game became impossibly easy to beat, even on the harder levels. Sim City 4 is more detailed, more realistic and more City orientated than Socially orientated. True, differnet social classes tend to hate each other, but I doubt Blue collar workers would beat up hippies on the street, Graphic Designers don't box with the Lawyers who live next door... on a daily basis anyway. It just not realistic. To make it a little more realistic, maybe they should have made the social classes more like, race, religion, sexuality, belifes... I know it would have got a hell of a lot of stick from the censoring organizations, but a neo-nazi is more likley going to abuse people of a different race than a Graphic Designer is going to be ticked off over a few Blue collar workers living next door. -

Dragonforce- Soldiers of the wasteland -
Yeah, i've decided all my "regional", instead of City Wide communications/tv masts are going to be that huge San Francisco one. If it looks out of place, thats the effect i'm trying to achieve.. It spoils the view, its foreboding, grim and reminds people how hopeless thier lives are. Just another day in Siberia. Now, for those rates- Jester- Its alright I guess, for a first city/first post is acctually pretty brave of you to post it. For a predominatly Maxis city, I acctually quite like it. 7/10 112233- Awesome, reminds of the the Matrix Reloaded when Morpheus and the Agent are fighting on top of the moving truck. If you look at it carfully... the similarities between the scene and the pic stack up; It was shot on a ground highway, there were walls at each side, there was industrial buildings over the walls, theres a point when they pass cooling towers... and the movie is always in that green tint! Fantastic stuff 10/10 (don't care if theres no traffic ) Gridlock- Oh, i get you... sorry if I seemed kinda ignorant, lol. Very nice pic though, awesome detail... reminds me of Miami... i've never been to Miami but i've played Driver 3... and it sucked (not Miami, the game). My only beef is with the parking lot leading to the plaza/ped mall tile... I guess, unless they can drive up the plaza to park 9/10 Ill Tonkso- Stop showing off You make me feel inferior with your 4-rail-transit system Great job though 8.5/10 112233- Wow, nice editing job! I'd love to see some traffic in these pics but, meh... beggars can't be choosers. I can just imagine them dropping the 4 containers onto trains that are still moving at high speed... that would be an awesome system... plenty of accidents! 8.5/10

Sorry, not enough time to rate from me, but I gotta say, 112233 10 outta 10 for the Matrix Green effect on that pic, lol. A quick shot from me-

This thread was sinking abit, thanks for saving it Yoman... it was either you or me 112233- Nice pic, finally, some proletarian action! A bridge over the rail would have made this pic... unless your seperating the poor from the poorer... lol. 8.5/10 Sepsis- Awesome Oil port, very nice an industrial. Love the dead lodgepoles at the bottom, makes it seem more "real"... shame the textures from the rail to the TE bit of the lot don't fit too well 8.5/10 Gridlock- Nice sky view, can only recognize a few of the buildings. Don't get why the planes would be seperated from the Airport though... unles they take off from the road 8/10 Socomseal- Meh, not a great effort... could have at least filled the other lots. At least the grids not there 5/10 Yoman- Very nice, the tower block peeking over the edge does it for me but the GLR seems to spoil the scene for some reason 8.5/10 The Sanderson- Hmm, very Maxis-ie... the plaza could do with some life or foliage and the roads are bit too griddy from my tastes. 6.5/10 Yoman- Thats more like it, looks very nice and continental european... all the W2W buildings are different but they seem to fit, and I like that park/plaza at the top left, makes the pic for me 9.5/10 Ah... explosion-

Awesome stuff Yoman! You've influenced me to look for that Elevated embankment mod... it looks truley amazing there!

Rush- Freewill -
Thanks LP 112233- Good pic, but like everyone else has mentioned, Garbage Incinerators next to high wealth areas tends not to look that great. I can see a few mucky buildings there too. 7/10 Hawkeye- Nice close-up, but the grass could do with some tree's 7/10 112233- Everything seems awfully wobbly... could have done with a little bit of terraforming The north looks nice though 7.5/10 SpecialEddie- Nice skyline, if it wasn't a night shot it would look lifeless, so good choice. River is good but it looks a little too uniform. 8/10 Sorry if it seems like my rates are harsh, but my stomache hurts and I need to take it out on somebody... lol... Heres a pretty shakey interchange from me... couldn't seem to get the roads straight enough-

Yeah, SC4 is pretty crazy, if the Dev's had just thought a little harder, SC4 could have been the ultimate city Simulator. I guess they should really thank all the people on this site and some others making the mods and the BATs, if it wasn't for them, SC4 would have died back a few months after Rush Hour was released in 2003. Oh, and 112233, the stuff can be found here- Jeronij concrete Walls- You'll need to download 3 seperate files that can be found near the bottom this of page Industry pipeline set- Can be found here

AP- Yeah, I know. So sue me for being a lazy git... im gonna rate now 112233- Its Scorchin's Flora set , some kick ass stuff in there. Great image btw... hate to be a fisherman sailing through those breakwaters though, its a pretty small gap. 8.5/10 The Sanderson- I'm impressed with this one, those green buildings at the bottom do it for me, they look almost Alienesc. I can also sence abit of network planning too... multi lane avenues, some one way streets and hardly any 4 way interchanges. 7.5/10

Wow, doubt my transit maps will beat anything in this thread... Benedict, dude... those are some fearsome transit maps! Heres mine, for Ozeragorod-
