Wow...I heard about those competitions, but didn't realize ESPN would air it! That is ESPN 8 "The Ocho" material, if you ask me. About as much of a sport as watching guys whip each other... I guess it is A&E that is actually airing it...still...lol

I'll believe it when I see it...which probably won't happen.

That is absolutely ridiculous, but I am not surprised and never will be. If it was a paid position I would think she has legal recourse. I am a Christian btw, I wish this crap would stop, but Murphy dictates that it won't. lol

The UK's Most Pointless Highways
paperboy15 replied to p4p3rc1ip's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
lol...I live in the USA and have hardly found the milepost markers useful...maybe it is because I'm driving too fast to see them...hehehe. I've never really seen the need for them myself, except for highway maintenance. As for numbered exits (not sure if they are milepost or not)...those are not common in California, but I did see them a lot in Washington and Arizona. Haven't driven through Oregon in awhile, so I can't remember there. -
Originally posted by: Imperial Eagle Whenever I use mass transit, it never gets used. I had 70,000 sims in a city and a really good mass transit system, only 10 people were using it!quote> Only 70,000?? There's your reason right there! Assuming that is spread out over a large city tile, of course...densifying the zones around the mass transit corridor should increase usage.

Back to the subject of urbanism, cities will probably merge together. Buildings will reach into the stratosphere. New more weather resistant materials will be needed. I think that suburbia will collapse, eventually letting cities become total gridirons. Dystopia. Please no.quote> I personally don't think skyscrapers will be built (on a wide scale) to reach such heights. This would be done mostly for the purpose of creating landmarks and worldwide icons. However, we will certainly see more and more mid-rises and "conventional" high-rises...there are so many 1-3 story buildings (of course, this is dependent on the geographic area...so I should restrict this opinion to the USA) that it simply wouldn't be necessary to build such tall skyscrapers in 2050. My opinion would be that it certainly could be done, but would it be pursued? (a minimum of 6 miles is quite an undertaking, but 44 years are still remaining...considering the technological curve, that is a LONG time)....Afterthought: but the lower stratosphere is where commercial airliners typically fly these days...that might make things a bit complicated! I think you mean low-density suburbia will collapse...some high-density suburbs may merge with the main cities, but I would guess most would prefer to keep their identity.

spa Hehe...the process being a joke is one reason why I would love it. Laughing everyday as you cross the bridge you helped name, with the name bordering on something ridiculous, would be well worth it! Sure, the bridge could be named for a city father, war hero, humanitarian, law enforcement hero, etc, but that is so blase! This makes me want to name a bridge "The Snoop Doggy Dogg Crossing" or "Rambo's Bridge". I will make that my career goal...hehehe...

Newsboys - The Tide lol...I got everything on my mp3 player...some random songs are always a good thing! I listen to Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Rock, and Metal the most and a little bit of everything else. I even have one Britney Spears song: Toxic. I don't even like it that much, but it can be catchy -

Man I need to clean this up...

I live in Fresno, CA and use Cingular...the coverage is fine except at my house where it can get spotty (perhaps interfering with other electronics?), even though my house is in central Fresno!

Yah...how about trying to get this posted as a news item? I think it would be accepted...couldn't hurt to try!

Yes, we need an even amount of teams. Who else will sign up? Btw, thanks for pushing the draft back! I would've missed it...that would have been a nightmare.
