    Cities: Skylines Release Date Revealed

Cities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation. The game introduces new game play elements to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city whilst expanding on some well-established tropes of the city building experience. From the makers of the Cities in Motion franchise, the game boasts a fully realized transport system. It also includes the ability to mod the game to suit your play style as a fine counter balance to the layered and challenging simulation. You’re only limited by your imagination, so take control and reach for the sky!

    Main features:

    • Multi-tiered and challenging simulation: Constructing your city from the ground up is easy to learn, but hard to master. Playing as the mayor of your city you’ll be faced with balancing essential requirements such as education, water, electricity, police, fire fighting, healthcare and much more along with your citys real economy system. Citizens within your city react fluidly, with gravitas and with an air of authenticity to a multitude of game play scenarios.
    • Extensive local traffic simulation: Colossal Orders extensive experience developing the Cities in Motion series is fully utilized in fully fleshed out and well-crafted transport systems.
    • Districts and Policies: Be more than just an administrator from city hall. Designating parts of your city as a district results in the application of policies which results in you rising to the status of Mayor for your own city.
    • Extensive modding support: Build or improve on existing maps and structures. You can then import them into the game, share them as well as download the creations of other city builders on the Steam workshop.

Well, I never played this type of city before. The only one I know is Sim City 4. There was a lot of things that peaked my interest while watching the videos. Love the fact regarding road flexibility, not too found of not being able to terraform as much as SC4.

I might give this baby a try. Looks really interesting and I love city simulation games where you actually have a challenge to balance happiness and budget!

Mymyjp perhaps you should watch the videos available for this game, as this game offers full terraforming abilities, on a level that has never before been seen in a game. With the ability to create maps and city sizes as big as the region view in SC4, even up to 100sqkm vs 2sqkm on Simcity 2013.

Maps give full control over gravity, rivers, mountains, water flow, everything, you name it. Perhaps maybe watching this might help you.

And BTW, to everyone else on here whom is cynical and cautious of buying into the hype of this game, are you serious? This is not some Cities XXXXXXXL rip off, this game is insanely amazing, I would happilly pay $300 for a game that offers absolutely everything, I have ever wanted in a city builder my entire life. And for a price half that of an EA title.

As a lover of architecture and city simulators i'll probably end up getting this game.

I just hope the NAM team comes back and adds RHW to the game cause those in-game highways look kind of hideous to me.

    While I agree with you, SC2013 maps are 4km2 (2km x 2km) :)

I thought I read about terraforming not being available once the map is created...but if I read that wrong, than this game is definitely worth the new learning curve!!! :)

i still have that vague feeling that this game might miss something. diversity and optimization for starters. cause i am myself will build enormous ultra realistic megapolis right from start with mod-lifted map size limit... and we'll see how repetitive it will be and how much fps it will be. hope i'm terribly wrong

    Ouch!

Mac OS X sys requirements are pretty steep :-(

PC users can go as low as Windows XP, but for mac users the min. is Mavericks (10.9) or better. Then there is the CPU issue.

My work computer (2.8GHz i7 w/16GB Ram) and ATI Radeon HD 4850 is just too obsolete to run this game.

You'd pretty much need an iMac or better that was released in the last year to run this game. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to buy a new iMac just to run this game.

Too bad. I think I would have loved to buy and play this game, looks like the ideal successor to SC4.

On the issue of terraforming, the game gives you powerful tools to play with so you can create mountains, rivers and waterfalls. I am really excited for what the dynamic water will bring when creating a landscape to play on :-). However these features are only in the map creation mode once you start building your city there will be no terraforming.

I've noticed a European theme to these cities, such as cars driving on the left side. Will we have an American option of driving on the right side?

March 10? Woah. This thing just breezed over me. It's almost out and I barely noticed.
