Mario City Transit

How about a transit map? Yeah! But I wouldn't be me without some background information first! Mario City is the town surrounding the lake to the right. Above it is the small town of Pacifica, whose geothermal plants power Mario City. To it's left is Hilltop. Across the river to the south is East Port, the big town. Terraville is upriver, while Balboa city would be down to the right along the coast. For some reason, the transit map is orientated with the west at the top of the map, and north to the right....

Thank you all! I didn't know what to expect when I created my first City Journal after years of playing all of the Sim City games, but SC4 in particular. I've had over 8,500 views and a good number of comments. I have also learned a lot and have enjoyed showing my views of city planning through this medium. Everyone in the Republic of Balboa (at least those in the eastern part) are totally grateful for the support and, well, attention. But everyone is very grateful... ...from those working in the depths of...

The first tram exhibited in the festival was the Laov C10. This was the first tram ever used in Balboa City all the way back in 1908. Built for style more than capacity, it was soon replaced by the DC-15 model. The Laov C10s were sold to Central Valley, Aquate, and Flora (before the latter scrapped its light rail system). Here is Klov's VT31 tram. In service since 1976, it was only 12 years old at the time of the 'historic' tram festival. But it is a popular tram, and Balboa City wanted to highlight it's...

Hey there everyone! I am working on three major projects right now, so no full edits. However, I did want to share some unreleased pics from around Eastern Balboa. The focus today is on the smaller towns. By the way, have you checked out my new CJ, "Central Syldav"? If not, it's worth a look. Got a few different styles going for the island's capital so I hope you enjoy it as much as you've enjoyed Easter Balboa. Enough with all that! Check out the new pics! Hilltop's City Hall late Thursday afternoon. The...

First things first, it came down the wire that the Republic of Balboa is pulling back from all arms sales and tactical support in the Yorkshire/Greenwhich/Tropicanian conflict. So leave me alone! (But can I still get the barrels of natural gas, Greenwhich?) In this post, we've got a few more shots from around the region. I am working on some major updates but am nowhere close to the big posts. But that doesn't mean that good work isn't being done! So, onward. A train station in North Balboa, close to...

First things first, my CJ has had some technical issues lately, somewhat merging the record with that of another CJ. Don't let this discourage you! Now to the meat of the entry! This will be a quick update--just showing some night shots from Balboa City, Taraville, East Port, Mario City, and Flora. The photos all center around downtown. Something different today-- Trivia! I was looking for a new way to show my work outside of the historical timeline, so I thought this up. I hope you all like the tour around the region, and be sure to check out the bonus at the end of the entry! What is the oldest standing building in the Republic of Balboa? Answer: Catedral de Cádiz, located in the old town, southern tip of Balboa City. A relic from the 1700s, the Cathedral was restored in the 1920s as the city began rapidly growing. This photograph was...

Thank you to everyone who has been commenting and participating in this City Journal! I have been really enjoying making it, and everyone's positive comments and suggestions keep me working at it. TekindusT: This is a masterclass about urban renewal! Thank you so much! I do some work in urban/transit policy development, and so I try and use what I know in my CJ. I really hope that I can maintain the standard. Here are some teaser pics from what's ready to read just below! Now, on with it! Mario City The...

How did this... ... turn into this? The question over how to redevelop Balboa City's old Industrial Flats had plagued both city and national politics for over a decade. Formerly the economic core of a much younger Balboa City, the area was now a polluted blight in the heart of a metropolis. With the building of the Southern Crossing bridge in 1972, a new neighborhood to the east sprung up around the bridge's approach. The neighborhood was nearly useless....

Following the 1975 revolution, the new government fulfilled one promise which was to rebuild the nations transit infrastructure. The hope was to reassure a generally supportive public that government-controlled economic improvements could spark the economy and better provide for the general population than a pure free market economy. But to achieve this goal, the government had to act fast and well. What follows is an account of the efforts in the four major cities. Taraville first major improvements was...

Welcome to the newest update. This update will explore some major events and turning points in 1975, plus an interactive bonus at the end! This entry will set up several planned projects in the region over the next 20 years. So, on with the story! For over 15 years, Balboa has been a embracing free-market capitalist economy. Through this process, Balboa's economy and population have grown dramatically, creating a measure of good will towards the government and its policies. Eastern Balboa, in 1974 However,...

Happy weekend everyone! Lots of new photos to share as the region grows through the 1960s and the early 1970s, so let's get started! From the 1960s through much of the 1970s, Balboa was governed by a conservative government which pushed the nation towards a free market economy. Many reforms around deregulation and social support networks were made. The economy did well for a while and growth was present everywhere. Balboa City at night. Taraville's rapidly growing downtown. Most importantly, Balboa was...

Good morning to all. As the sun rises in Balboa City, we take a look at what growth the city has seen over the past few years. One of the more notable cultural events to take place was the restoration of the Catedral de Cádiz, a relic from the 1700s. While a modern city has built up around it, the neighborhood has maintained a tranquil feeling. In the 1930s, Balboa City greatly enhanced its status as a national capital with the construction of the Executive Palace. It was designed by the great Belgian...

Welcome to East Port! The 1950s and 1960s were a rather conservative era in Balboa, as the government maintained close ties with the United Stated government. The nation moved ever closer to becoming a full capitalist society during this era. Because this is the time period during which East Port grew, it feels more "American" than the rest of the region. But before this, East Port was just another mid-sized town for the first half of the 20th Century. Events upstream changed this for good in the later...

Haven't shown much from Taraville recently. Last we saw, it was a small town to the north of the capital, Balboa City. But since then, Taraville has grown into a larger city, with over 70,000 Residents. Taraville owes its economic strength to it's position. The splits in the river around the island prevented the direct transportation of goods directly to Balboa City to the south. Therefore, raw materials from the north and the west came to Taraville first to be either a) repackaged for further shipment, or...

The newest update! I have been working all week on this update (plus one that will show the developments in Taraville and the beginnings of East Port!) so I hope you like it. There are tons of pics in this post, so I shinked a bunch of them to help your ol' computers out! (you're so welcome!) Also, I had never mentioned that Balboa City is fully made up of Chincago-style lots. This will shift shortly as we gett deeper into the 20th Century. The City planners in Balboa City wanted to place a mass transit...

Welcome Back! This will be a two-part update. First, I'll show the growth from Balboa City. Second, I'll show the transit skeleton that will become Taraville, a city that I haven't shown much of al all! First up, Balboa City Balboa City is rapidly growing into a much larger city, moving from 20,000 to 50,000 thousand residents over the past decade and a half. A major industrial zone is being planned one the north west shore of the Balboa Peninsula. A new light rail branch--brand new elevated rail-- will...

Hello all! I was so excited about the 100+ views that I decided to keep on going. I do appreciate all of the comments. My first challenge was that I had to re-terraform the part of the map that is to become Balboa City. I was testing PEG's seaports and suddenly my whole city tile was a flat plain. Whoops! So, here is my new southern tip: Once this got all sorted out, I could get back to the actual building of a city... Balboa City is supposed to start out as a medium-sized port town, so let's start...

Here is my first City Journal;, 6 years about first buying SC4! I will be developing the region of Eastern Balboa, a small, fictional nation located on the southern tip of am island off the west coast of North America. Make sure you check out the history of Balboa and Syldav Island, as this fictional place is nevertheless tied into real world events and historical shifts and events. Good times, so read it all here! Region Details: This region of the nation includes its three largest cities: Taraville, East...
