Balboa City grows, while Taraville begins
Welcome Back!
This will be a two-part update. First, I'll show the growth from Balboa City. Second, I'll show the transit skeleton that will become Taraville, a city that I haven't shown much of al all!
First up, Balboa City
Balboa City is rapidly growing into a much larger city, moving from 20,000 to 50,000 thousand residents over the past decade and a half.
A major industrial zone is being planned one the north west shore of the Balboa Peninsula. A new light rail branch--brand new elevated rail-- will service this zone.

With plans to get bigger quickly, Balboa City has opted to expanded the transit system using elevated rail rather than ground light rail. Here is a shot of where the new system comes down to earth to conjoin with the relic:

With the transit system still in transition, the old trams work just fine servicing the city. Here, you can clearly see that Balboa City is planning to have a much larger train system.
I love the look of the old trams on the newer EL lines:

The new EL connects to a subway on Balboa Terrace, using morifari's great hillside EL-to-Subway connectors

Here is the new Balboa Terrace area that will be the key to city's growth. It will be a core of mostly medium-dense residential zones that will feed the industrial sector to the left (west) and the Downtown core to the right (east). For now, it's a small community overlooking the town.
You can see how the EL connection described above can help create a great network (this two stop subway will grow tremendously soon).

So here is the city as it currently stands. Note the growing commercial sector to the east (right).

Actually, it looks kinda gross to-date! There are major plans for some serious urban improvement, including a major city park and a government district.
In the meantime, good thing they have also build a brand-new hospital, though the grounds around it are still a bit sparse. Those lungs are going to need this!!

Second up, Taraville!
If Balboa City is the gritty industrial town, Taraville is the merchant-class town high on arts and education. A middle/upper class town situated on an island between two major rivers, Taraville owes its existence to the trade of inland agriculture and Balboa City's industry.
Here's a reminder of where Taraville is situated. Is the areas to the top of the photo:

First, here is an island-wide view of the transit network:

Next, this shows the upper-west corner which is the oldest part of town with initial zoning:

I am actually somewhat stuck with Taraville at the moment. I had planned to center the town around a large university campus which would double as a large city park on the south west corner, to the left of the island's hill. However, the "perfect" college for this, guppyfisk's Mid Ancient College, is a flawed file. It claims to not need any dependencies, but so far it just comes up as an empty lot. Please share any tips.
Also, my once-installed road-top-mass-transit has dissappeared and. won't come back! trouble indeed!
So, that's where we are so far. As always, I appreciate any comments and suggestions!
