Eastglen II

Welcome back, folks! I apologize, I had hoped for a more substantial update today, but SC4 is being less than cooperative right now. Hopefully this will satisfy you for now.

Eastglen has a few small commercial areas.. this is by far the largest. And really, how much more Canadian can I get, with a Canadian Tire, Save-On-Foods and Giant Tiger all side-by-side.
It has been rumored, though, that the Canadian Tire will be closing its doors soon, as this store has been hit hard by the recent recession. The store was never overly busy to begin with, and the recession only served to amplify that problem.

Moving towards the warehouse district and the rail yards, we see a bit of industrial warehouses and old factories. Most prominant is the Domino factory, seen at the top right. Although it hasn't been in operation since the mid-70's, it has been preserved as a Heritage Building. It serves its purpose today as offices for Domino Inc.

We caught a peek of it in the last update, but here's the CN right of way, as it passes over Kingsway Ave. The city has recently removed the sound barriers, graffitti ridden and generally falling apart, and is planning on taking at the very least some of the trees down. The master-plan calls for walking paths along the length of this new LRT line.

And (I think I've shown one like this before..), residential. You can see the swaths of bare concrete, there are plans for a development, slated for completion in 2012. Residents welcome this, as the various adult shops, pawn shops and money lenders along that stretch were bringing less-than-pleasant visitors to the neighborhood. The two stores at the top left are the only ones left to sign the deal for their land. It is unknown if the developers will be taking further steps to get command of the land.
And.. er.. that's all folks. Apologies once again, hopefully I can get these issues sorted out quickly.
In the meantime, I just wanted invite you guys to check out the Welcome update now and then.. I am periodically updating the image as I develop more and more of the city. I'm hoping to create a huge image from that zoom that encompasses the entire city.. well that's the plan at least. ![]()
