Calgary, Heart of BrookStone
shyguy from SC4D: Thanks for the comment and suggestion! I've been thinking about adding more flatlands too, BrookStone seems really rocky to me, and if I do add them, I can get much larger cities!

lordmungus: You're in luck! I read your comment, so I've decided to add a little tidbit on the progress of the Highway in this post, hope you like it!

In other News: Calgary has solidified is position again as largest city in BrookStone! With a population of 19,600, it has surpassed Lexington Bay by around 5,000 residents.
“I caught a bus to Calgary, I was on my way to see the mayor, he told me he wanted to personally take me around the city, so I could write a good article.” On the way in, I passed by a whole plethora of new developments.”
“First I passed by a new High-Tech park, and there was a banner on the entrance that read ‘Calgary Micro processing park’ the place seemed bustling.”
“I also went through some suburbs, they looked very wealthy”
“I got to experience the regions new highways first hand! On BrookStone Highways, the speed limit is roughly 160km/h, which is far faster than the normal 65km/h speed limit. I also saw why- the highways were extremely well paved!”
“I arrived at the new CalgaryCity Hall. What was once a 2-story office building is now a much larger 21-story building. It has yet to be decorated though. I walked inside and took the elevator to the 20th floor, where the mayor was waiting to see me. He told me “look, I could sit here and tell you about this great city and show you a couple photos, but you got to get out and look, lets go.” He lead me back down to the lobby.”
“We walked down to Central station, where a passenger train was waiting. The mayor told me I arrived just in time, we could actually make the train. We stepped on and took our seats. Business class 2nd level. The train started across a bridge and the mayor began telling me about Calgary.”
“Soon enough, we were 2 miles down the line, and the mayor began telling me all about how this area has developed the most. There have been 2 new suburban subdivisions, 1 new industrial park, and 1 new business park. He says the population in this area has grown from around 700 residents to 4,000 within a very short timeframe. He rummaged through his briefcase and brought out two photos.”
“He said stuff like this has been happening all over this area, but this one was the most saddening to him. He told me he used to ride horses on that ranch, and it was slowly losing space to urban development. Finally, the ranch was forced to close down, as the horses were not comfortable being so close to an urban environment. It was bought out and converted into a new lane for houses.”
“Someone seems into walls, I explained to the mayor. He told me its part of the new subdivision, and its actually a very impressive feat for the city.”
“We arrived at a station that seemed a little out of the way, and the mayor told me this was our stop. We stepped off and caught a cab. He told me he was taking me to the new business park.”
“He explained this park is already home to the 2nd tallest building in Calgary, and consists of 18% of all the businesses in the city. This, he told me, was their centerpiece:”
“A magnificent statue, very modernist style. The mayor told the driver to take a detour, and we got a look at all the new beautiful houses around the business park.”
“They were stunning, and I saw so many different styles.”
“finally, the mayor told me about the progress of the new highway. He said that the Calgary/Lexington Bay connection is already complete, and that the Calgary/Trenton Connection is nearly done!
“the mayor told me that this photo was mailed to him from Trenton, they have about 15 miles to complete, and then they’re finished!”
“He told me he received this one from Lockheart, it’s the only major intersection in their own city.”
“The mayor told me he liked this one best, but when I asked why, he just shrugged and said “its very random to me, gives me the giggles sometimes.” He then ruffled through his briefcase again, and brought out this photo:”
This is where you can Vote! Residents have been calling for Calgary's only waste disposal faciltiy to be moved. The council has drafted up possible solutions of where to relocate the facility, and its up to you to find the best one.
A) Move the facility to Calgary's industrial port. This will partially alleviate resident's concerns, but will also cut down on shipments. It is the cheapest solution
B) Move the facility to Lockheart. Lockheart has an advanced waste disposal facility, but they are running near capacity. In order to move it to Lockheart, funding must also be given to expand the existing operations.
C) ship waste out of the Region. This is the most costly, but it completely eliminates the waste.
D) Move the facility to Trenton. Trenton has more lenient laws about waste disposal, but this has the potentional to be costly. Residents in Trenton may also be affected.
“The Mayor told me “This is Calgary’s only waste disposal facility. Its actually near an influential neighborhood, and citizens have been talking about moving it to another area. We could ship all our garbage to another city, or find a different spot here to place a garbage disposal plant. However, there aren’t many options inside of Calgary.” After he told me about it, our cab pulled up at another train station, and the mayor said. “Thank you for coming on tour with me, it was really fun showing you around!” I told him it was great being shown around by the mayor of a city, and I wondered how he knew I had to catch a train to the next town. I shrugged it off as coincidence, bid goodbye to the mayor, and went into the station.”
“After a little waiting, I was on my way to BrookStone’s newest town. The BrookStone Region has recently expanded to include some of British Columbia, and a recent discovery has led to a small town, this is the town I’m going to visit.”
