25. Stadium
The New City area of Alpine City is divided into 4 zones, from A to D. Zone A and C has been developed in the previous entries.
This strategy of developing New City in separate zones is in place for several reasons. Most importantly it can:
1. By spreading out the infrastructure works, we can avoid draining the city treasury;
2. As each zone developes one after another, any imbalance of zoning and demand can be solved by fine-tuning the planning on the next zone.
As the city grow, Zone D is now also gradually developed. Let's take a look at the New City and see what's new.
As shown in the aerial view, Zone D has also been partially built. Most noticeably, the stadium to the North East.
This is the Alpine City Stadium. It is strategically sited near the New City Train Station. It is now the largest sports arena and performance space in the entire city. The Stadium's surrounding area is mostly open space, as a buffer zone to reduce congestion to surrounding areas.
That said, due to the openess of the green belts, the city view of Zone A and C are clearly visible from within the stadium.
Alpine City Stadium is but one part of Zone D. The rest of Zone D is allocated to retail and residential areas.
Highrise residential blocks are built here, with enviornmental friendly designs such as green wall and green roofs.
Zone D is unique that the elevated railroad passes through the middle of it. This created a lot of noise, hence the area immediately around the railroad is allocated to be commercial zones, with highrise shopping centers.
The below view is at the outskirt of Zone D, viewing Zone A and C, as well as the green belt and giant central roundabout.
You may notice the skyline of both zones has changed dramatically since the last entry. A lot more highrises are built all over the two zones.
First let's visit Zone A. This Zone is dedicated to financial services, hence are mostly offices. As previously predicted, there are indeed a few towers that are built to be taller than the Alpine City Tower.
The increased office space has risen demand for business hotels. One is constructed near the green belt (the wide tower with blue-green facade features below).
Below is the main avenue in Zone A, which slowly banks according to the coast line.
Here are some night views of Zone A.
As for Zone C, it has also increased in density and resulted in taller skyscrapers. This caused higher demand in public transport - which mostly rely on trams and bus lines that connects further to the train stations.
The population of Alpine City has doubled since the development of New CIty, and the city's traffic grid needs adjustments to cater for the load. New cable car lines, new districts are being planned while we are working on the New City.
One of the new cable car lines are shown in the traffic map below. In time, Mount Lilac will be converted into a satellite town for New City and Newgrounds. We will see more of that in the future entries.
