And we're back!

2 years almost now since I made a sincere attempt at recreating my home town. And I am determined to actually finish this time! Anyone familiar with the area knows all of our roads are under construction at that moment, but the roads layout I've chosen will pick and choose which versions of our highways you all get to see. For instance, my recreation will reflect what the end goal of projects along the US 69/96/287 North project is working on, but not its southern counterpart, or the I-10/US 69 interchange projects. (Mostly because I hate that the plans for that call for the removal of the Maury Meyers bridge and I like that bridge gosh dang it. How dare you TxDOT).

But my rambling aside, this project seeks encompass the spirit of Southeast Texas, from the sprawling farmland to the town's west, the bustling Port of Beaumont, the Beauty of the Downtown Historic District, the stark contrast of the oil and chemical industry, and everything in between.

I'm about a week into it here, and have about a third of Beaumont's infrastructure ready, having dealt with the infuriating angles where the separate grids intertwine. My next step is finishing the layout of the neighborhood southeast of downtown, then beginning work on the Port of Beaumont, and the main ExxonMobil refinery. As you can see, there isn't much detail to show yet, with most areas that are filled in only there to help me with scale and only a few hundred people on the map, all across the capriciously absent Neches River from in Rose City.

I'm using the Template Central Map for this build, without using a height map, so I'm waiting to finish the infrastructure around the river before I add it to the map. Though it does exist as an empty valley between downtown and Orange County.

I should have another update ready soon, as long as this hurricane isn't too bad. Hope y'all enjoy this iteration of Beaumont, Texas!
