Today we're getting back with nature for this tour of Brisbane's park system.

Let's begin in the city, where after three years of extensive renovations, the City Council has just reopened Sir Meriton Park back to the public. This is located just between Brisbane's CBD to the south,  the historic Old Town sector to the north-east, North Brisbane to the north and the extremely wealthy and heritage-listed Stanmore to the west. Many city workers take a stroll through here for lunch and there are of course plenty of events held here on weekends for families. Here it is, from the west facing east.

Next, we head north to South Shore, where the South Shore Convention Centre. This whole riverfront will be redeveloped in coming months, however the newly opened convention centre got finished first. The long-touted development spurred a flurry of new highrises and office towers in the area.

Finally, let's head out to leafy Eastwick. The small Madame Fledgestone Park is a small (and probably badly made) triangular park. Definitely stop to smell the roses here!

Then, we head up the hill to the Brisbane University of Technology's Eastwick Campus, which, in addition to half a dozen libraries, a university hospital, a state of the art research centre and small shopping strip, also boasts a dozen sporting facilities. Sporting fields are parks too, right?
