Next weeks sneak peek...
“Mr. Stevens, it’s been far too long! Welcome back to Porthaven,” announced Delin.
“Far too long indeed,” replied Stevens. “I’d like you to meet my fellow colleagues – they are all excited to begin their work tallying up this great town.”
“Wonderful. These gentlemen are members of the town council and they will be happy to assist you and your party. I look forward to your stay, Mr. Stevens. We have much to talk about,” said Delin.
The two groups exchanged greetings and introductions. As the informal gathering began to wind down, Stevens had one last word with Mr. Delin.
“Thank you again for the warm welcome. Porthaven appears to be growing into quite the town, you must be proud,” remarked Stevens.
Delin managed a smile. “Well… things are not always as they seem.”
Stevens was puzzled by the response. Before Delin turned to walk away he gestured down the street.
“If your schedule permits, I’d be honored to share a drink at Murphy’s this evening. A lot has happened in ten years.”

Thank you all for your kind comments!
NMUSpidey: Heh, manure. Reminds me of home. Or at least, the more farm-like area in the north part of the township I used to live in. I mean, in which I used to live. Whatever. It's great to see more of your work, it looks amazing!
It is certainly a distinct aroma…
Outstanding Comment Winner!
(Outstanding comments will be judged entirely by me, but they could be: insightful, informative, entertaining, humorous, thought provoking, witty, or creative - just to name a few adjectives. Winners will be eligible to create a character that will become a part of the New SorGun story)
Mithrik: Great stuff! But I see you made an error in the region shots. You named Steamer Bay as Porthaven in the first one. ![]()
As I mentioned in the previous update, good catch! It has since been fixed. But your keen eye deserves a reward. Check your mailbox for a PM.
Whiteboybob: that many people and no church? maybe I didnt see it
There is a simple little church hiding among the buidings down there, I just didn’t include a decent close up. It’s good to know folks are keeping an eye out for realism.
KonstantinII: where did you get the dirt roads?
They are PEGs SAM dirt road, which is included in the lastest NAM (as ModernKhalifah so kindly mentioned)
mb1.0.2: I'm really enjoying the story you're telling and the layout of your rail line is spectacular. I'm a big fan of rural towns (as that's one of the only things I can sort of build in SC4), and this really feels like some tiny town. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for the kind words! I enjoy the rural development of SC4 as well – but hopefully I can pull off the urbanization of the region in due course!
katherman111: This CJ is probably the best Historical CJ i've ever seen. And I think it's perhaps one of the top 3 CJs of all time here on ST and other Simcity 4 websites. I wonder, will this CJ take us to later eras like the early 1900's and perhaps... today?
Such high praise! Thanks for the comment, I only hope I can live up to your expectations ![]()
My goal is to develop the region through each era, up until the present day. But as you have noticed, it may take a while ![]()
Bluthlucidity: One can only hope eh? I'm really looking forward to watching this region develop over the decades. And aww yiss H.N. Colfax in tha hizzouse. Looking forward to his role in the development of the region as well. How exciting that New SorGun is back up and running. Great work on this installment, I'm especially loving the sprawling agricultural area outside Porthaven. What are you using as inspiration for the rural layouts? Historical maps? Farms back then used smaller plots of land, but then I don't know much about orchards. North of Winnipeg along the Red River there are still the original river lots which were given out to settlers, narrow & very deep strips of land between Main St./Henderson Hwy & the river. I'm not too knowledgable of their history, but I imagine they would have been farmed to their full potential. Will you be doing anything like that along waterways?
Thanks again for the addition of the great new character. As for inspiration, I have looked at maps and books, but much of it just comes from my head. I’m sure a historian would shake his or her head at my depictions of the time period, but New SorGun is more of a creative outlet than a historical document. BTW, thanks for the heads up on the Red River, I may have to incorporate that into NewSorGun.
