With insufficient fuel or resources to look for a more welcoming planet to colonize, the passengers and crew of the Speedwell decided to place their settlement along a bend in the river north of the point where it forks around the Broken Hills.

The ship was disassembled, and fabrication plants as well as a power generation facility were built.

Due to the scarcity of water, residential dwellings were densely clustered near the river bank.

The only place of true luxury in the colony was Settler's Square:

Conditions were harsh during that first year, and many perished...

...but the colony survived and soon began to thrive.

The lack of water would quickly put a damper on growth, though...

Hmm, no comments yet.  I can only think it can be for one of the following reasons:

1. It's so horrible that no one can think of anything to say.
2. At least one user has reported problems posting comments in the new cj section, so that may be the reason for some of you.
3. I haven't done enough yet to warrant any sort of comment.
4. You're just too lazy

(I prefer to believe it's for one of the last three reasons.)

Anyway, I'm working on the next update and hope to have it up tonight.

One other note:  I often drop obscure references into my CJs.  I typically reward the first person to find one by naming something after them.  There's one so far in this CJ.  (Well, actually two, but one is so obscure that no one will ever find it.)

It looks nice, but I really think you should put a little more shape into your cities, for realism. By that, I mean things like curving the settlement along the riverbank so that it follows the riverbank's shape.

Otherwise, good job. Looks pretty good for mostly Maxis content.

Yes, it was a bit squarish at this point.  Gridding is a problem that I always have to guard against.  Right now the colonist don't have the means to build large buildings, but once they start, you'll be seeing plenty of content from the STEx.

Please forgive the lateness of my response, I didn't see that there was a new comment in this update on the TOC page.
