The Royal Kingdom of Västra Götaland (Swedish: Det Kungliga Riket Västra Götaland) (RKVG) is a Nordic Country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. The Kingdom borders with Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The Countries nickname "The West Coast" comes from the location, wich is the western parts of the Scandinavian Rivera.
The countyr is the fourht largest (in terms of population) of the Scandinavian countries and it is subdivided into 49 municipalities (kommuner) and 3 counties: Älvsborg County, Gothenburg and Bohus County and Skaraborg County. Its population of 1,590,000 amounts to 6,6% of Scandinavias population. The capital and governmental seat of Västra Götaland is Gothenburg.

About 85% of the population live in urban areas. The Kingdoms capital is Gothenburg, which is also the largest city.
Västra Götaland emerged as an independent after the great war of Scandinavia in 1809 when the Swedish Empire lost the eastern half of Sweden, present-day Finland to the Russians. On the the other coast the Royal Kingdom of Västra Götaland started its liberetion war aginst the Swedish rulers. After 3 years of heavy fighting a new nation was reborned, The Royal Kingdom of Västra Götaland under the King Gustav II Adolf whom was related to the King who had founded the capital city, Gothenburg in 1621.
Today, The Royal Kingdom of Västra Götaland (RKVG) is a Absolute monarchy and a highly developed economy. In 2010, it ranked fourth in the world in The Economist's Democracy Index and ninth in the United Nations' Human Development Index. In 2010, the Worl Economic Forum ranked RKVG as the second most competitive country in the world, after Switzerland. According to the UN, it has the third lowest infant mortality rate in the world. The Kingdom also has the lowest Gini coefficient of all countries (0.23) which makes RKVG the most equal country on earth in terms of economic division. The Kingdom has been a member of the European Union since 1 January 1995 and is a member of the OECD.
