Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Hello and welcome to Rip City, better known as Portland, OR, USA.
Thanks to the small amount of success my CJ has enjoyed over at simpeg, I've decided to start dual posting updates to here too. First off, though, we need to get caught up to where the Simpeg version is, and this is what I'll focus on in the first few weeks. I won't show each and every picture-or even every update-that I've put up on simpeg, but I promise to get all the good stuff.
So here we go. This is the map I'll be using:
Portland Metro area by the NHP team.
As you can see, this map has quite a bit to offer: A large river, small rivers, extensive floodplain, fairly flat lands, detailed hills. I've left the map largely as is but have terraformed in some additional features.
Not-so-relevant-details:
'Rip City' is portlands nickname solely within the basketball world, and as I'm a blazers fan, its what i chose to use. No-one actually refers to portland by this name in anything at all outside of basketball.
In keeping with the culture of the northwest, the portland area has a very high amount of coffee shops, excellent brew pubs, and things to do outdoors.
Also in keeping with the northwest, portland has a large hippy population, an unfortunately high amount of rain, a higher amount of cyclists who think they own the entire road, and an even higher amount of people who are chronically incapable of obeying the traffic law: "keep right except to pass."
