Bigger & Better

South Wirdleonia: Bigger & Better
Of course, the highlight to the new development in the Wirdleonian Piedmont is Robinia’s stunning new capitol. Not to be outdone by the massive new edifice in Roane-Anderson, Wirdleonia has constructed the largest government edifice in the nation. It is larger than Tenne’s and significantly larger than those of Schulmanicus and Devonshire. The XI Arrondissement, located east of the Princess District on the opposite side of Capitol Boulevard, is the heart of Schulmania’s largest region’s government. The centerpiece of this massive bureaucratic complex is the Regency of Wirdleonia Capitol. Designed by the famed architect Ferenc József, this structure instantly becomes one of the most recognizable structures in the nation. Wondering what will happen to the old capitol of the realm? It will become the new Regal Museum of Wirdleonia Culture & History (“The Regal”).
Situated on a bluff overlooking the Wirdleonia River, the capitol is a striking building in a striking setting. It is flanked by government offices and fronted by Capitol Boulevard, a wide street connected to Princess Katherine Boulevard and heads southward towards the future site of the proposed Trans-Schulmania Highway. (Don’t hold your breath waiting to see this one unveiled…) Lush grounds extend all the way to the bluff’s edge, allowing for a pleasant view of the structure from any angle. Enough rhapsodizing, let’s see what Ferenc has made.

The Regency of Wirdleonia Capitol, in all its glory. The road from top to bottom is Capitol Boulevard and the road heading toward the lower right is Princess Katherine Boulevard.

Whoever said size doesn’t matter didn’t have to build this bad boy! Just think how many bureaus, committees, commissions and such can be housed in this huge building…

In the center of the lawn sits The Spirit of Wirdleonia, a solid gold statue (over one ton of pure gold) atop a massive column. It’s a good thing they have railings at the bluff’s edge… it’s a long way down.

At lower left is the Wirdleonian Piedmont District Administrative Center, which serves as local government headquarters for the area between here and the border with Harar (at least until more districts are settled).

The grand Entrance Hall features a floor inlaid with highly polished marble and clawstone. It is actually the largest installation of clawstone anywhere in Schulmania and is a sight to behold.

Viewed from the west, the capitol and its grounds are ideally sited on a prominent site overlooking the most important river in the southlands.

On a dare, Schulmania’s most notorious daredevil, Krazy Kitteh, crossed from the dome’s pinnacle to the top of the golden statue on the grounds on a tightrope just 3 mm thick. Wow!

Here’s the whole building with fall trees this time. I know it’s a lot like the one two above, but I like it so too bad! ![]()

This major intersection would see cars, but they are currently banned in Wirdleonia. Wagons, chariots, prairie schooners and carts fill the streets. But, rumor has it that Princess Katherine might just bring a few of the feared vehicles over from Friendsville… her tender paws are tiring of the pavement. So, be sure to watch for potentially shocking developments!

Viewed from the east, the capitol is the defining structure in the city. The commerce across the street relies upon the many government workers streaming over for trinkets, meals, and assorted whatnots and doohickies.

Here’s a view looking south
Of course with a building of this size, not many other government buildings are needed. But we have them anyway. This sector of land has been incorporated as the District of the Wirdleonian Piedmont. Robinia is the district capital, making it the only city to be the capital of two districts (The other being South Wirdleonia).

The district’s administrative center is shown at right, festively decorated for BFA Governor-General H. J. “Hoppy” Franciflora’s birthday celebrations. His birthday is July 1st, in case you are planning to send him a card. Next door (at left) is the Bureau of Feline Affairs Building, serving the felines in the district.

Flanking the capitol on the other side are more government buildings, including the Central Bank of Wirdleonia (top center) and Catnip Comptroller’s Offices (top right).
These magnificent new government buildings are a short commute away from Princess Katherine’s new house, which is surprisingly enough located at the end of Princess Katherine Boulevard. So modest!

On her birthday, she stands on the balcony to greet well wishers and tosses pouches of Pounce to the crowds gathered below. Now that’s what I call classy!
