i deleted the field and orchard. i didn't want them right next to the shipwreck or shore. i only put them to check/verify what type crops and trees i had. plus orchards and crops are a little too slow for a starting food source, folks will need food much faster if they are to survive they first year or two.

then i took a look at what the shipwreck storage had for my folks. lotsa spuds, a few tools and clothes, and a pretty small amount of firewood.

I do the same as its just too big a commitment in those first couple of years, I always go for the colonial charter map that gives you chickens, rice (for growing crops), add a fisherman, hunter and gatherer and while its not the most exciting menu they at least don't starve to death
