    Can one connect with irc client say mIRC? I would rather avoid installing the java vm it has given me problems in the past.

    No, the chat can't run on anything else. It requires Java.

    The chat we have now allows a lot of functionality, which is why ST uses it instead of other types of software.

    Yeah... well, the Manahattan College proxy server blocks the chatroom! I can't chat while on campus (which is a majority of the time nowadays)!

    So If you're wondering why I'm never around in there, that's partly why!
