I have been quite busy to update, but since someone asked for a region view, I'll post it here. It's quite a huge region and I had to take 9 screenshots at 1024x768 resolution to make this image. I then had to shrink it down.

Currently Port Seastone has about 41,000 residents.

Well, anyhow I didn't get to the post like I wanted, a lot of things happened later that day. Anyhow on to the real update...

    ========

In the news today, Mayor Schaffer and his wife are now the proud parents of a newborn baby boy. The mayor hopes that Logan Schaffer will grow up to be a fine, young prosperous citizen of Port Seastone.

In other news, the mayor has proposed a 20 year growth and urban renewal plan for the city. He hopes to encourage businesses and residential complexes to open up in the inter-city. With the budget and planning committees setting aside budgeting for new innovative transportation systems planning in Port Seastone, economic growth is slated to flourish. Rumor has it that capital hill in Austin is actually going to be keeping a close watch on the Mayor's plans. Some of the best city planners in the world are also watching, one even said, It's so radical, it just might work! If it does, it'll revolutionize the way cities are planned and built. I've been in this business for 20 years, and I might actually learn something! Part of the transportation improvements are widening existing roads, and adding turn lanes to help with traffic flow.

Shown here are the maps of the proposed new planning and restructuring areas. The mayor has also set aside some land for his new mansion which he is building in celebration of his new son.

    The new mansion:

of course with all the new growth, the city offices and city hall will need to be expaned, with a possible need of 2 city hall precinct branches in the coming years slated as well.

The blue area is the existing downtown area, that will be undergoing a new urban planning strategy, and then the green area, is existing city limits that will undergo some cleaning up to make the city look nicer. The yellow area is the newly proposed annex area that the city is asking to acquire from the county, and 2 nearby towns.

In another radical twist, the mayor has implemented a sort of Green Belt or spots more accurately around the city. He has lobbied for funding from county, state, and federal agencies to create local, state, and national parks. The mayor feels that greenery in Port Seastone is key to a healthy environment, and citizen morale.

In another effort to boost morale the mayor has also lobbied to get some big time recreation in town. It is now rumored that we'll have a professional baseball team calling Port Seastone it's home.

Regal Cinema's has also signed a contract with the mayor to open 3 new cinema's in town over the next 2 years, with 2 more to follow in the next 5 years.

In an effort to show that the mayor cares about the citizens, he has also embarked on a safety and wellness bond package bringing the best in public safety, emergency services and healthcare to the city. Among the groups that are planning to build clinics and hospitals in town are the Seton Healthcare network, Shriners, and multiple private investors.

However, the biggest medical facility in town will be the Metro Mercy Center, completely financed by Mayor Schaffer himself, This massive hospital will hold thousands of patients with a wide variety of medical needs, from truama to minor emergencies, to childbirth, and pediatrics. This hospital is a completely state of the art technological and teaching hospital, and utilized the latest in bloodless medicine making for the best quality of care.

Recognizing the fact that all the dedicated state and national park land will need more adequate fire protection, the mayor successfully lobbied the county, state, and federal governments to have a joint effort state of the art fire protection facility that can cover all corners of the city for fast effective response to any park within the city, and tri-county area. The new fire protection facility will have an air strip which will be utilized by a brand new air tanker donated by the U.S. Forest Service, to show their appreciation that our city is actively trying to preserve and protect it's natural surroundings.

    victory_FD.jpg

With all the natural forestry around, including in the national, city, and state parks, there was a definite need for the ability to fight forest fires in an aggressive manner. In steps the Smokey Habitat Bond Agreement. With matched funding from the city, state, and federal government this fire department was built. It includes a communication tower, one C-130 Tanker plane, that can hold 3000 gallons of retardent, and 20 Firefighter Paratroopers. This Station also has 6 offroad capable firefighting apparatus, manned by 24 firefighters. In total 88 city, state and federal firefighters work this station around the clock in shifts. 30 are supplied by the city. 29 are supplied by the state. 29 are supplied by the Federal Gov.

In somewhat related news, with all the new shipping traffic going through the fastly growing seaports in our city, the need has also arisen to have a fire port. This newly proposed fire house will be home to fire boats, which will enable city firefighters to work closely with the coast guard to effect water rescues, on water fire disasters, and hazardous materials spills. This fire department will also be a joint effort between the city and the state, and will also maintain a professional working relationship with the coast guard.

The city is also buying 6 new helicopters which will be fully equipped to be able to handle a range of emergency response need. These will be hybrid responders, capable of firefighting, air rescue, or acting as air ambulances. Some of the helicopters will also be dedicated to police use.

In another radical mayorial move, Mayor Schaffer has actually approached some major high tech companies and proposed to them the benefits of moving to our city. In fact he's gone so far as to offer them huge tax and land options that would make any big corporation drool, and unable to resist moving to our city. The mayor said during an interview for our citizens to be successful, we need jobs, good jobs, careers, the type that people can retire on. We need big companies that treat their employees great, and help the economy to flourish. Companies like AMD, and Google to name a couple.

    amd.jpg

Yet, to be able to have the skills required to work these higher skilled, and higher paying jobs, we need the proper education, which is why the mayor has personally funded a 12.4 million dollar package that will bring 4 new elementary schools, 1 new high school, 2 public library branches, and a community college. The mayor has also offered to cover 10.4 million dollars towards the building of Southwest Texas State university here in town, and 1.3 million dollars for a branch of a world reknown architectural school.

Impressed by the growth plan, the major retail companies want to move in as well. Soon we'll see the likes of major chains like blockbuster, wal-mart, target, home depot, lowes, famous fast food restaurants and many other household names moving into town. The great thing is that there is no need to worry about the small ma and pa shops around town, as the mayor is being strict about zoning and economic impact. In fact, places like Wal-Mart are only allowed in town if they buy and sell merchandise provided directly by local suppliers and shops. If a local supplier or shop doesn't carry a certain item, then wal-mart is free to carry it in their inventory. Also, bigger chain stores are not allowed downtown, they're only allowed in the urban areas away from downtown.

I just jumped in to see what's happening. Nice little CJ, I must say.

I think some of the many Lurkers should drop in and leave a line or two, right,? I can see that you have been here.....47.gif

Keep up the great work. I would recommend that you add a lot more residential and commercial areas now to make it look more habited. Some parts of the City loook like a wildernesspark of some kind.....just a little trick that should spice up some pictures.2.gif
    I will be back.....19.gif
