The Ancients

Recently, I've been noticing a trend--a lot of people are forgetting the so called "early days". Many people think that CJing started with the members of what has been dubbed "The CJ Revolution": A trend where CJing saw a huge surge of creativity and popularity, with threads reaching 20, 30, 60, and more pages when the average CJ beforehand was 5-6 pages.

So, I'd like to reintroduce the "Classics"--some CJs that inspired me when I was a $%&^! back in 2003 and 2004. Many CJs have surpassed the level of these originals, and a lot of these have lost some pics, but here they are.

(Links start at the first page with pictures)

Eddiesville, by simcityperron

New Eaton, by jhippolito (The old Eaton, the more famous version, has no more pics.)

Vivicitas, by Paletexan

Carthage, by Paletexan

Crystal Junction, by whiteshark365

Digby, by lewellan222

More to come...

============

If anyone else can find some old ones...feel free to add.

It was Digby and AfroThunda's work as well as some other original CJs (e.g. zeb_fisher's Chicago) that inspired me most in my early days at ST. I've found paletexan's CJs much later because these were even earlier. It's amazing what they've done with the game in that pre-BAT and pre-NAM era.

Thanks for the reminder of the classics ginchael.

Great idea!
The first influence for me was Jim (Jhippolito) with his unconventional and "organic" way of doing layouts!
Just after that was Paletexan, he was a plaza master!
And so many more, we mustn't forget that what we do today as been started before and that we benefit from their experience!
Later on came Jeroni who started another revolution! (And that is a whole chapter in SC4 CJ'ing history!)

Thanks for the memory ginchael! 44.gif

I am surpised that some of you have mentioned my name... It's an honor but there were so many really good cj's back in the day! Digby is the one cj that sticks out in my mind and then later on Jeroni with SCR; now that was a great cj!

gincheal, I'm so glad you brought those up, but I think another one to include would be Digby. (and yes, I know it says 'more to come')

    I knew I forgot a couple...

I'm adding Digby and Crystal Junction to the list. 9.gif

@Afro==Currently, I'm using SCR as the high water mark; the absolute most recent I will go. Most people here are well acquanted to SCR: I'm hoping to get people into the old ones.
