Greetings; Welcome to the "Port-Marlin" introduction.
The region is based on the Digby map by lewellan222

This will be a regional journal for the most part, instead of concentrating on one major city. Port-Marlin has a larger main area that is flanked by three smaller areas including an island. Waterways and channels separate each area. Water also divides 4 large cities, so some bridgework will be involved. The surrounding communities will be developed in stages to more simulate a self supporting region. I have decided to grow the region in 3 phases.

1. Develop the 3 smaller areas first, with mostly low and medium density Residential and Commercial zones. Various Industrial zones including Agriculture.
2. Follow that same basic plan for the inner cities for the main area. These cities will probably include some additional roadwork and rail given the added space.
3. Further develop a few select cities with high density select zoning. Add more recreational, educational, transportation, and eye-candy. I would also like to juice up the Farms beyond the standard agricultural zones.

Once the region gets to that stage the game plan may need some flexibility. There is a reason for that. Communities will of course be interconnected, by Rail. No roads will be used for passenger or freight traffic between cities. Also no Rail lines will connect Port-Marlin with "Sim-Nation". Some Sea-ports and ferry stations where in demand or supported will be developed. A few close-ups of city developments will make an appearance. Patience and mostly time permitting.

SimCity 4 has quirks; I believe we all know that. And so I have selected a few key downloads & mods to enhance game play. I do not consider these cheats. No money cheats have been used btw. As the region grows and/or by the time it reaches planned phase 3, I may add needed or suggested downloads. Some of the widely used ones in phase 1 are:

Network Add-on Mod. (thought I could get by without it, I was wrong)
 Marrast Sheriff's Sub-station. (very wide coverage, reasonable cost)
 PEG Solar Collector. (clean effective power, way cool looking)
Brita Filter
KtD Passenger Rail Station
 Rural Fire Station
 Ninjo-E
 Schoolbus stops
 Blackhole Trash and Energy unit
 Blackhole water tower
Wild West Small town Railroad station
 BSC various lots and props
 Simgoober various downloads
Transit_Bugfix
Farming jobs doubler

Several other bats and lots will be featured in the game; fair mention would be due on a close-up, inquiry etc. Mainly I would like to thank
www.simtropolis.com and the abundance of talent on the STEX. I hope that Port-Marlin can showcase a few of those downloads and do them justice. As I sort of mentioned before I may welcome ideas and improvements. I like to think I know SC4 but I'm more of a novice. Looking forward to the comments and posts about this journal.
Thank you.

    Beautiful map, but you should use .jpg files, not .png - they take a looong time to load.

    Port-Marlin News;

    After consuming mass quantities of green beer, cabbage & corn beef, governor danurve and the engineers of Channel South have spearheaded a meeting with the surrounding communities to decide on a preliminary plan and foundation for rail lines to develop the main area (land mass) of Port-Marlin. The northern waterway sprouts several comunites as well as their neighbor cities. They have been well taken into consideration as Rail lines are at the heart of freight and regional traffic. The governor has advised caution as not to choke the main rail lines. Citing as an example one of the rail lines connecting North Shore & N. Ridge heights already experiencing elevated traffic. The engineeers then produced an overhead draft, but asked to keep the laughter down as it is not exactly to scale.

    Channel South Expansion Project

    The bridge construction went ok without problems. A slight alteration in the proposed rail lines was made, but follows theme. Also spent a litle more from Channel South's budget, so the advisor wanted to spank - lash out - slap the mayor. Whats a little pain between friends.

    Port-Marlin News;

    Channel Delta formed and planners busy at work.
    Sim citizens in a rush to settle into the new City! The Governor took a tour of the area and remembered his camera. With the new city of Channel Delta formed, a rail system now interconnects the smaller areas of the region with the main area. While for now little passenger or freight traffic flows over the Channel Delta or Channel South bridges, industrial thinking sims are busy crafting ways to take advantage of the new network. Passengers will be sure to follow.

    Please enjoy the vidio  (aprox 1.5k)

    Port-Marlin News;

    A chunk of change was invested & required to expand Channel Delta. Several runs attempted but scrapped before the final inital layout paned out. However the financial advisor is well aware of the Mayors balancing efforts. And so it would appear the Channel Delta budget would recover and profit. Strange how little passenger rial traffic is utilizing the rail network of the cities expansion. The Mayor pledges to keep an eye on that however and make adjustments when & where needed.
