Long Building Menus

With my game loaded with plugins (Thanks Simtropolis.com), my in-game menus like 'Landmarks', 'Parks & Recreation', etc. have become so long, that I usually spend a big part of my playing time scrolling through them looking for the perfect building. 15.gif

I wonder if someone could develop a MODD which would make the menu appear as one big screen. Like a rectangular one, which would have smaller building icons and when you click one, you will get a larger picture and a small description about it. 29.gif

I can't help you with the 'create a modd' part, but I can tell you that if you have a mouse with a wheel, you can scroll through the menu's faster using it.  Just hover the mouse over the menu and you can scroll up and down faster (by rotating the wheel), and unless you move the mouse out of the menu area, you won't be zooming in/out of your city.

the scrolling thing isn't the biggest issue here

its the loading time... it takes like 40 seconds to load if you have a full plugin folder :S

I experience the same pains as you, (curse you simtropolis, lol) though the loading time is also a problem.

But I think I recal reading it somewhere that nothing can be done about the menu issue. I know that somewhere there was a mod that on the game startup it allows to select and choose which plugins to have play in that session, but don't hold me to that.

You could alternativly, manually reduce the number of plugins in your folder by getting rid of certain ones you don't use. (just don't forget dependancies)46.gif

I remember there once was indeed a modd at the STEX, which splitted each menu section into different sections, and these sections were displayed next to each other.

However, I have no idea how the modd is called, and where you could find it, so Im of little help Im afraid 15.gif

I feel your pain I have more than 3 gigs of plugins. There are 2 options out there right now:
1 Start up Manager (SUM) allows you to pick and chose what folders load with a particular region or city.
2. Rude Boy's Menu Divider Pack (MDP) allows you ro re order your menus so you can group things where you would want them and the order you want them in. However it is very time comsuming to do this. If you want this option IM me and I will send you a link for the file.
I use the start up manager myself, the MDP was just to much trouble to bring up to date and keep up to date.
The wonderful people who made the SUM are working on a version to allow you to chose what sub-folders load which would, in a well organized plugin folder, allow the user to select individual lots to load.
Hope this helped you!

i have the same problem as you do with the parks menu and ive asked before if a mod was possible.  i was told NO in no uncertain terms!!!

there was a mod once, although i cant remember who made or its name(i know, not very helpful) that eliminated maxis buildings in the landmark menu.  i dont know if that will help or not, but it might be worth looking up

Is there anyway to reduce the menu without using a mod?

The easiest way to reduce the size of the menu is by getting rid of some of the lots.

Well! Looks like I am not the only person unhappy with this situation. I do wish this mod will become a reality one day....21.gif
