Is the main logo image greyscale for anyone else?

Heck, I even cleared the cache (and a few other settings) and it's still black and white.

Yes it seems to work for me also, but I'd rather use Firefox even if it is slow, until the STEX is fixed.

Don't worry, it's not as if the STEX is broken. I, and many other people, are having absolutely zero problems downloading. I have no problem downloading neither with firefox. That's why I'm thinking it could be a cookies issue, as the problem seems to be rather selective.

The STEX isn't going anywhere; this website is built upon the Exchange, if it goes, so does 98% of our userbase. Ain't gunna happen. I only hope so, but I will wait to upload my new stuff a while to see where all this goes, and now that the colours of the site have gone too.....!quote>

You know, it's funny. I wouldn't have considered the gray banner a "bug". That's the kind of thing that's definitely done on purpose. (Maybe I take things too literally)

I did look here before starting that other thread, but the mention of it was on the previous page, so I missed it.

Well whatever then, I guess the answer is that there is no answer other then "just 'cause".

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.
If you can read this, you deserve a cookie.

OK I am glad I am not loosing my mind here lol... I saw the B&W banner and thought hmmm, I noticed its color only in FF and not IE or even Opera...

Far as the stex I am glad again to know I am not the only one having problems... I can get the window to open but nothing will display just a blank page in IE, but FF and Opera its just fine...

weiiiiiiiirdness!!! in any case you look at it....

I'm hoping the banner isn't a seriously bad thing, and just some color play by the admins or some bored hacker.

Wow, never guessed it was a hack. I've been going bonkers about this with timcravy's missing SimMars maps.

Here are my tips:

1. I think we should somehow make "hacker policemen" in Simtropolis to alert citizens ASAP when a hack has occoured, instead of having them banging thier heads against walls wondering what's going on in the STEX.

2. Keeping a good and organized backup file of the STEX can heal data losses I know, we're talking like a thousand terrabytes fitted on a normal computer, but just try it out.

3. Try to get an HTML or Javascript tutorial. This may sound weird, but soon, you 'taught' so many members about building websites that millions of voluteers can help with restoring the site. Also, keep the tutorials in a backup file. You never know what can be hacked (oh no).

Hope this helps~!

IceAngel: check the previous pages of this thread for a solution.

Shoji_sim: It's best never to post more than one reply straight after the other. We have an EDIT button that you have to use if you want to add anything to your previous post. It looks like pressed the "Reply" button too many times. The website often lags quite a lot, and the reply window often wont close for a quite a while. But, your reply has generally already been posted, even if the reply window hasn't closed yet. Just refresh the thread page, and your reply should already have appeared. By pressing the "Reply" button over and over again, you just create duplicate replies which can be very annoying.

I have been getting the blue download screen and no file to save issue for the last week.  My tuppence worth of diagnostics follow if they are of any assistance....

In addition to below I have been getting the following from the script debugger...

Line:6

Char:1

Code:0

Error: Permission denied

URL:https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=20557

So is it simply a rights issue that's crept in somewhere ?

Hope you can get it sorted - loads of cool things I want to download but can't ! 8.gif  Very frustrating !

Using IE 7.0.5730.13 here, and also getting the blank blue window.  Relogging, restarting, refreshing, and cut-pasting the URL to the address bar so far have not yet helped.  This seemed to have started happening to me sometime early Wednesday afternoon, as I was able to properly inspect STEX downloads that morning, such as the CNA Plaza by darknono35.

The blank blue page loads unusually fast, as though it is not receiving much data.  To give an idea, this is the skimpy source that I receive when attempting to load Bixel's SF 360 Folsom Revisited:

Blank Blue STEX Code

Yep, just enough code to setup a blank blue window with a header.

Hope this becomes somehow helpful, and, of course, good luck with the recovery repairs.  I never liked or had time for program debugging and gave it up a long time ago.

If hackers are changing the banner, it still poses a threat -- even if they're only switching colors around. As long as people have access to the Simtropolis server (*cough* toaster *cough*), they can do anything.

EDIT: Dirk, don't post the same minute I do, it's scary. 28.gif
