Following the success (I was shocked 29.gif) of my first BAT, I've decided to do some more work on smaller football (soccer) grounds. This thread may move quite slowly, as I'm not that quick with the BAT yet, but I'll get there eventually.

Please give advice on where they can be improved.

I've only started work on a new ground today, and so haven't got too far, but I'll update every time I make a new piece or significantly edit an old one.

This is a relatively small stand I'm working on, probably most suited to an end. The multi-coloured wall across the front is to be advertising hoardings. I might alter the roof slightly in the future, but apart from that and it's lack of texture, this part's nearly finished.

Thanks for the comment and suggestions Chapo16.

I've placed some advertising around the ground I'm currently working on, as yo can see in the below pics. I may add more around the pitch and in other places on the stands.

I'm mainly working on one ground, there's a bit of progress on the other, but it doesn't merit any photos.

Here you can see some draft textures I've put on.

And a better view of some ad boards.

That's looking great! Just like your average suburb football team's stadium. 1.gif

May I ask if all the elements you show are one BAT, or is it a scene put together using several models? I'm asking because it will speed up rendering times for you and allow for more flexibility if you render the individual elements separately. Lateron, this would enable you (or lot-builders like me 9.gif) to assemble the parts individually: Stands only on one side, or on two sides of the pitch. Or on three sides, or on all of them. Floodlight masts or not. One entrance or two; and all that in individually selecetable configurations. You could even use the stands for e.g. a tennis stadium, a baseball field, a racetrack or a beach volleyball pitch. Or how about horse / dog races? The possibilities are almost unlimited, especially since you can mix it with props of the Maxis stadium... just trying to give some inspiration. 2.gif

Thanks for the suggestions T Wrecks. At the moment, the larger ground is all one BAT, but come release, I'll split it up into parts, for convenience.

    For now, here's some pics.

Concretey Stand- Likely to be released soon, on a single stand ground. Just needs some tweaking, maybe some night lights, and some smaller objects for its Lot.

    stand345ef.jpg

Larger Ground- Needs to be completed on fourth side, and second and third sides aren't fully there yet. Also needs some smaller items for the Lot. Will be broken down into seperate Props.

    Side 4 (With dugouts)

All comments and suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for the feedback people!

I'm looking for ideas for smaller props to place inside my football ground. My Lot at the moment, is looking very bare.
So far I have a refreshment stall, toilets and turnstiles.
Any ideas what else would be in a small football ground?

Hm, I don't really know what else to add, other than a refreshment stand or a little snack bar, but these can be done by using some Maxis (or 3rd party) props that already exist.

Hey, maybe some facilities for the groundkeeper? Someone's gotta take care of the pitch after all, and that guy needs some tools and hence, some place to store them when they're not in use.

Lateron, some trashcan and dumpster props will also be nice... oh, and if the shorter sides behind the goals are open (no stands), there are usually high fences behind the goals.

Other than that, I can't think of anything right now...

    Cheers for the feedback folks.

I include with this post, the lot (so fa (needs adding to still), for the larger ground. My main question is whether you think the dirt tracks around the stands look out of place. In my opinion, they look odd. But so does just grass. Any ideas?

I've also been working on the lot for my single stand ground. Tell me what you think needs to be changed/added, if anything. stand364ye.jpgstand355oe.jpg

Nah the dirt tracks do look a little odd but remembering the grounds of Newcastle Blustar and the team my Dad manages (AFC Sudbury), it seems about right.

I'm now working, as someone suggested I should on some floodlights.

I put this together up overnight, and it's still not finished. I reckon it still needs some more on top, where the platform is. Tell me what you think please!

I like the light stand, however before judging it too much, can we see a quick preview in game? That way it can be judged how it fits in with the rest of the surrondings and if it looks a little out of place because of the size and what-have-you. I'm thinking the lights are out of proportion with the rest of the stands, but that's just my initial reaction. Also, you can place invisible circle splines where the glass on the lights would be and give them a nightlight modifier so they light up at night. That way it looks more realistic.

This is what I have so far with my floodlighting. I'm thinking that the stands of the floodlights are lighting up too much, and I'll look to address that.

I love it what you are doing! Those small stadiums are awesome. Especially the last one, but I think the light poles are too 'thick' IMO.

These do look good but I have to agree with flrscf. For me it's not necessarily that the light post is too thick it's that the lights are too small. Most of the time the lights on such towers tend to overhang a little. Either increasing their size or scaling down the tower part without touching the lights would change that. It's a minor detail though.

Right, I've been doing more work on lighting up the floodlights and I think I've got what I want.

All in all, I think it's around about ready for release, but please point anything out that needs tweaking.

Right, I'd kinda left this thread for a while for no particular reason, but now I'm back.

I'm currently working on a couple of projects, the nearest to completion being a hockey/football astroturf pitch with stand. Tell me what you think, I hope the pictures show up okay.

I'm personally thinking the night-lighting is too strong, but tell me what you think, all comments are much appreciated.

I've finished the astroturf pitch, and have uploaded it, and am now onto a new project.

It is a small, modern-styled, two stand football ground, based loosely on the Rheinpark Stadion in Liechtenstein.

So far, I am working on the main stand, and have an untextured shell, still requiring seats, and many other stand details. I also plan to fit a building under the stand, where the offices of the clup would be found. All feedback (good or bad) on what I have so far will be much appreciated.

coultharda have you ever considered trying out a cricket stadium/pitch, its something thats missing from the game and I think you are one of the few people with the talent to attempt such a thing. Oh and your current project is great!!!

I have done a few bits towards a small village cricket pitch, but I just can't get the textures. It's on hold until I think of someway to create decent textures.

I've made some more progress, mainly on the back of the stand, where there will be a players entrance/ main building/ bar thing going on. I plan to put some nice props inside the glass bit, to make it look like a bar area.

I have taken a short break from the first stand for now. It really just needs some extra details and textures now though.

The ground I am basing this BAT on has a smaller, second stand. I got started on this today, and it should be completely done soon. It is a small, uncomplicated thing.

I've been working on both stands some more, and the smaller one is nay on finished (no pics as of yet unfortunately).

I've also done some serious work on the main stand, adding some first draft textures, and nightlights, in what is meant to be a bar area at the back. As always, any form of feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

(The picture of the front of the stand is outdated, however due to previewing times involved a recent one is not possible. For reference sake, the old picture should e the same as what I have now, minus roof and terrace textures)
