defcon pilot:  10AM to 2AM.  Good grief!  I only did that when I was running benchmarks for clients.  When does he get any time for himself?  You should encourage him to take time to smell the roses before he keels over.  SC4 is definitely play.  If anyone thinks otherwise, try writing application code, or worse, operating system code.  There is nothing like writing a device driver to ruin your entire week.

simcityblowup:  Yes, your pic is good now.  In fact it is undersized.  If you like, you could resize it to be exactly 300 x 50 and no one would complain.  If you are having a fight with sloppet, please take it outside.

blondetwiggy:I remember the last of school/work I missed:

    May 13th...

    1995.

Well, isn't the weather just beautiful this time of the year? The air just seemed to be filled with new vigour, and the promise of optimism and good vibes.

simcityblowup: Having a fight with sloppet would be like attacking a very large bees' nest with a stick. You'll get stung if you pick that battle.

@ brancra: You must not get sick very much.... (that or like to go places sick) I tried to stay really healthy this year, 'cause if I miss one day of algebra I'll be totally lost.  I'm barely getting it as it is.  lol, you always have a funny way of putting things and making me laugh... 4.gif

@defconf_pilot:  Well, it might be average for a home schooler, but I tell other people that and they absolutely freak out.47.gif  Tell them that I don't get spring break and most other school holidays, and they go berserk.47.gif

@N_O_Body:  I have to agree with your statement about writing OS code.  I want to write a wallpaper changer since XP doesn't come with one, and I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to do that.  I know that I'll figure it out once I have the time to learn, but it doesn't make me respect the fact that writing software is often difficult.

@Leech10:  For me, there is no such thing as missing classes, no matter how sick you are.  You could have pneumonia, and you won't miss any classes.  If you're too sick to do classes, they are postponed until you are well enough again.

Brancra:  Ah yes, spring.  The pollens, the stuffy nose and head, the runny eyes, the tight lungs, just wonderful.  However, we went driving the other day in the apple country up on the escarpment at it is definitly apple blossom time.

@hym:  There are lots of wallpaper changers around.  Even MS-plus has one.  Walks though either My Pictures, or a given list.  Don't invent the wheel, find it on the net.

    @simcityblowup: "haha" = LOL

@N_O_Body: Mind telling me where MS is hiding its XP wallpaper changer? I've checked the internet and have seen nothing saying that XP has an automatic wallpaper changer. I'd use the other ones out there, but I'm not really enthused about them.

N_O_Body: Do you know of a website or anything that will scan your computer to see what codecs you are missing for something. Some of the Spore trailers won't work, and WMP10 can't find the missing codecs.

brancra: I used to have a problem with that. Thankfully, it's not a problem anymore.4.gif

Hey  Voar, click link number 4 in my sig. It will lead you to a Quicktime movie download for the Spore trailer. Assumeing you have Quicktime player that is.

hym:  Not sure it is available anymore.  Try here. I think you have to use IE to download these/

Voar Tok:  Off the top of my head, while I know they exist, I can't think of one.  You should be able to get a general codec pack from the MS download site.  It you do, be sure not to load the one named mmswitch.ax unless you have the hardware it has been aimed at.  What kind of a movie is it?  If it is divx, you might need the divx package.

Well, I don't really need the trailers, although from the looks and sound of it, Spore's pretty good. It might even become more popular than SimCity or The Sims. Hopefully I can get the Mac version for my laptop. Only problem for me is that I already can't wait for it to come out when it's slated to launch next year. 3.gif

If you go to the SimCity Central forums, there's a section devoted to Spore. You can post suggestions, ask questions, etc. 4.gif

N_O_Body: I downloaded the Divx codecs the other day, but that was to no avail. Rybolton sent me a copy of WMP9 codecs he had on his computer. That didn't work either. I'm going to keep looking. Perhaps I'll find the elusive codec.3.gif

fire_bird: I'll have to check that link out later when my internet is not crawling along at dialup speeds.15.gif

sloppet: Served with mystery meat.  Mystery meat is what you get in meat loaf in a school or college cafeteria.

defcon pilot:  Have patience.  Waiting will fill.  2Q (June?) 2007.  I liked the trailer.  Quite exciting.  I'll have to see if my son will buy me a copy next Christmas.

Voar Tok:  I take it you have no way of finding out what the name of the codec is?  If you had that you could google for it.  I just did a search on "codec packs" and got lots of pages.  Remember, if you pick one of the all in one packs, be sure to kill the infamous mmswitch.ax

@sloppet:  I'm curious, how can you like chocolate ice cream with meat.  The idea of chocolate ice cream is bad enough, but adding meat to it!?!46.gif

@defcon_pilot:  Well, I'm not looking forward to Spore as I'm not interested in it.  I watched the E3 demo for it.  I thought it was funny that Will Wright got attacked right after saying the game was about social interaction.3.gif

@N_O_Body:  Can I get the biggest steak possible?  I don't care if it's beef, llama meat, or whale.  I'm hungry.

N_O_Body: Nope. Part of the wonderful world of idiot-proofing everything, WMP has the audacity to tell me that it couldn't find the file and then not tell me what file I'm missing. The error report barely said anything, and what it did say didn't help in the slightest. Anyway, I'll be looking for codec packs now.3.gif

EDIT:  I downloaded this for starters.  I'll let you know how it pans out.

EDIT: 4000th post in the Moose Factory!39.gif

    Yep, the trailer looked interesting.

The launch date is set sometime in April or May 2007, though that's unofficial as of yet.

hym: 16-oz porterhouse served, medium rare (a point) with shoe string potatoes and steamed broccoli.  Llama milk on the side.  Enjoy!  You can have seconds if you are still hungry after that.  Candied mome raths for dessert.

Voar Tok:  Good luck with that.

    Late Bulletin

This just in:  Oilers 3 Mighty(?) Ducks 1.

Watched the last period.  After losing two at home, what do you suppose will happen to the Ducks in Edmonton?

    Moose predictions:  Fried in Oilers.

Looks like the Stanley Cup will between the Oilers and the Sabres.  Should be a great series, eh?
