Whats with all of the dead comedy!?

Conan is my favorite late night TV show host and the only one I really ever watch. His interviews may be dry, but if he has a good guest then at least they are entertaining. All the zany things that go on during the show are the best.

Craig Ferguson is pretty good as well, better than Leno, and Letterman is just not good anymore. I see that Carson Daly is finally starting to try, but he is still just awful. It is still a mystery to me why taht guy ever got a show in the first place.

It is odd how Stephen Colbert was fired from the Daily Show then went on to host basically the exact same show right afterwards. It would be interesting in they joined together for an hour long Daily Show.

I like a lot of stand-up comedy these days, as well as some older ones. George Carlin and Lewis Black are my favorites. A few I enjoy watching are Denis Leary, Robin Williams, Mitch Hedberg (RIP), Jim Gaffigan, Dane Cook, and Ellen Degeneres. I cannot stand Jerry Seinfeld. I've seen Lewis Black on stage twice, and also Mitch Hedburg, Dave Attell, and some guy that opened for Black.

@Easy Bakes: Studio One did not only do comedy. It did all kinds of stuff. I saw Straus's Salome starting Eartha Kitt in the title role and Peter Ustinov as Herod the Great. Eartha was very young and lithe, and Ustinov was probably at the peak of his career. They only gave her six veils, but she held the last, nearly transparent veil in front of the camera. From the way Usinov's eyes bulged, I don't think she remembered to wear her body stocking for that performance. This was sometime in the 1950s because it was black and white on about at 13 TV set.

I'm going to stick my ore in one this one.

Having my teenage years in the early 90's here in Blighty (Britain for the non british) I can whole hartedly agree that comedy on television has gone down hill.

The classic 90's comedies of Red Dwarf, Bottom, The Fast Show and Harry Enfield. No offense to those that love little britain and The League of Gentlemen etc., it does nothing for me. The classic people of traditional british comedy that is famous all over the world, The two ronnies, Porridge, Morcombe and Wise, Lenny Henry etc.

Bring back the old comedy shows (not forgetting the best british comedy show of all time Monty Python!!!)

Like with all TV on these days the networks are just churning out crap when it comes to comedy shows.

Though with these new Dramas on (Prison break, Surface etc.) now there is another story (and thread).

Lewis Black is Jerry Seinfeld on steroids. Absolutely hilarious!

 

And I forgot about Craig Ferguson. His monologues are genuinely funny, unlike Letterman's, or Leno's.

 

I could go either way with Degenerous (but of course, I hear she does too)
