I'm still trying to find a solution, I have some ideas how I could fix it, but if you have something to say, please, say it.

First, please resize that image to 800 x 600 or smaller. This is a board requirment. If you don't do it, it will be deleted.

We need more info. Please tell us about your game and machine. See the bug reporting sticky in the list above.

My guess is you have video card problems. The game doesn't recognize any advanced features such as anti-aliasing. Make sure they are all off and try it again.

Also make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your card.

On the other hand, since we don't know what machine you are running, maybe you are just too slow when scrolling. You can force a screen redraw by toggling the grid (g key).

To see if you have video card trouble, try switching to software rendering. It is an option in the game graphics controls. If the problem goes away, it is the card.

    Nah, allready switched on software.

I highly doubt that it's caused by my computer configuration:

    AMG Athlon 2.4ghz
    512 DDR RAM
    NVIDIA 6600GT

I have SimCity4 since its came-out and I never had this problem before. I think it's related to a plugin or a missing file. I'll try re-installing the game.

    Thanks for the advices.

Oh, and I've resized the pic, sorry for that.

@Alakazam...I have had this happen before on my older computer

basicly my problem was a combination of too many plugins (it had 512 mb of ram also) my graphic resolution set to high...it just basicly overworked the little computer  (bioth RAM and processing speed) and  it sort of graphicly studderes leaving these tracer type...if i remeber correctly I lowered my plugin content and graphic settings... and spun the city and zoomed in and out til graphics returned to normal, also remeber the game actually freezing up a few times when this happened, and had to reboot...not even the taskmanager command would work

@ Jmdudel...only thing I can think of is your either missing a piece of the NAM or another lot has stolen it's ID number42.gif (looks like it's a tunnel Entrance)

i suggest reinstalling the nam, and putting your currentb setting in a file named zzzNAM...this way it will load last

but that just a guess really

    Jmdude1,

There aren't any tunnels for the elevated rail network in the game. Maxis never coded any into the game. It appears you have a slope mod installed and it's settings are set incorrectly such that it allows the game to attempt to build a tunnel. The other networks that don't have defined tunnels are streets and the ANT from the NAM. Tunnels are hardcoded into the game and we cannot add new ones.

I am having the same problem as Alakazam.... although i do not think that my computer is at fault.... but you tell me... I have a 2.4 GHz processor, 1GB RAM, a 256MB ATI video card and i get these tracer effects.... I was thinking maybe I have too many plugins and I have been trying to delete some of them but was wondering how much is too much??? I think my plugin folder is about 199MB... is this too much??? Could the problem be occuring because I am running the game at almost the highest detail and at 1024x768... I was thinking maybe uninstalling and then reinstalling the game to see if that helps.... any suggestions?????

Your machine is overkill. The game should run fine. Even with a very large city, the memory load doesn't exceed your real memory and the system will page it as needed.

I don't think a large suite of plugins is the problem unless they somehow conflict with each other. Finding this out is a laborious task consisting of moving them all to another folder, trying the game, them moving them back one at a time, testing until the problem occurs. You then drop the one that causes the problem and continue testing.

You could be having trouble with either the software or the hardware of your graphics system. If you have all the latest drivers and firmware, try setting the game to Software rendering. If the problem disappears, then further investigation of the video system is indicated.
