okay!

I can only get 30,000 max and i have everything for them to access, i spend millions on them cause i have a building that gives me trillions of dollars each month, but 30,000 is the max i have ever had!!!

SO, i was wondering if there was a mod for INCREASING population, by, say 100,000 or 1,000,000.

Or can some one create a building that in say, a sky scraper and has like 100,000 people that can live in it, so i can increase my population like that.

    You probably have a cap holding back your population. Try placing more schools, high schools and colleges. Provide good jobs. Make sure you have both commercial and industrial. Be sure you good transportation acess. Have some neioghboring cities, for the game is easier when you be neighborly. If you do, be sure they are connected properly.Here is a diagram of what Im talking about
                ______=city border                ==== =road         ++++++++=devoloped area

                                             = +++++++++++++++++++=
                                           ========================
                                         _______________ =________________
                                                                    =
                                                                    =
                                            =======================
                                             = ++++++++++++++++++++=

PS:I hope this makes sense

PSS:can you get me a picture?,that sure would help.

are you zoning the right stuff? also try some stex items that might help.

I my self have asked about a building that can give you 100,000 residents (wished they had one) but the best i can find is the radical mods in the modding files. you can find some stuff.

also there is a tower that supposidly gives 50,000 jobs on the stex i haven't tried it out yet so i can't tell if it does. But the Tower looks cool. The name is supertower.

Hoped that helped.

Neighbors aren't necessary. They help a city grow faster because of the effects of extrapolated demand, but you can get over a million sims before starting a second city.

It sounds like the problem here is demand caps. Do a search for demand caps to learn more. The quick answer is to build some parks and reward buildings.

In the early stages of city-building, a Tennis Court or a Farmer's Market can be a great demand cap reliever.

To check for demand caps, I suggest you get Equinox's RCI Query Mod, available at the STEX. With this mod, you can objectively assess your demand caps in percentages instead of just guessing and potentially wasting money on cap-busting facilities like parks, airports, etc.

Try the super demand mod in the modding files. Your residential along with commercial and industrial demand will skyrocket. The more demand you have for residential, the more your population will grow.44.gif

I have created countless cities that are above 1 million
for me there are 2 ways of doing this
1. download the NDEX Taipei Lite on STEX
2. Try and create a New York kind of city and add a very, very large central park in the center. Park greens always help relieve demand cap.

Please tell me if you have these in your city:

-Basketball court

-Ranger Station

-Community Garden/Public Beach/Open Paved Area/Open Grass Area/Small Park Green

-Courthouse

-Medical Clinic/Large Medical Center

(This demand cap relief [plus the limits set at the begining] doesn't add exactly up to 30,000 but rather 29,650)

Add a Major League Stadium and you'll see a nice increase

    Only the medical centres about 2 but i have done some parks latley and i can only get about 3,000

    also most people abandon because of 'long commute time' like i just don't know how to stop it. Like commerce is within like very little distance but it still happens. WHAT DO I DO???

    + The demand cap isn't really a problem cause i have buildings that put it up but rather the commute time is the problem. How do i stop it? I have very little stops!
    i once got 30,000 but each city i average about 3,000
    I usually spend about 4-6 hours on each city.

    Can anyone help me?
    Any mods that can help create a stable city.

    Any buildings that might be good?

    Before you look for mods to make your city more stable, try to reassess your playing style first and look for what's wrong. I personally regard looking for quick-fix mods in SC4/RH as pointless since you're attempting to do shortcuts instead of trying to find out what the problem is. Remember, everything in SC4 (short of bugs) happens for a reason, be it distress/dilapidation, lack of population growth, or the notorious long commute time. The key to solving these problems is to understand the game mechanics and NOT putting in quick-fix mods. I suggest reading the Omnibus or SC4 guides available so you understand some crucial game concepts first.

    Regarding your problem, maybe we can help you further if you post more information like your taxes, number of recreational areas, rewards you've placed, layout, zoning, average commute time, etc. Even a screenshot might be useful. Also, do you have a neighbor city? If not, try building one first (be sure to connect them via roads/mass transit). Then after developing your neighbor city a bit, switch back to the original one. In most cases, having a neighbor city stimulates demand.

    For the many people on Simtropolis, they would love to help but like most situations this cannot be solved very well without the proper information.  If this is causing you some serious trouble, to destroy the population capacity you need to:

    • Build rewards, from the original SC4 rewards to the STEX ones, acknoledge your people that are rewarding you great gifts!
    • Expand your transportation network, look at all of the dataviews, especially the conjestion dataview, see what road needs to become a one-way road, see what avenue needs to become a highway.  Place a busing system, add a subway system, even a railroad would do it...
    • Download and experiment with the NAM...
    • Look at CJs, and see what they do...
    • Expand to your neighbors, build lots of neighbor connections
    • Build lots of parks & landmarks
    In a cruel fact, you have exploited the game by using a cheat (This is not wrong, just a different way of playing), but by using it, you have stopped yourself from learning how to actually manage a city that is very close to loosing alot of money, and unlike cheating, you learn all the nooks & crannies of the game and how to get a profit.  Also, the budget is also your information into the sim world, without it you cannot identify:
    • What you are spending all your money on
    • How many simmities and companies are adding to your coffers
    I have been able to make hundreds of thousands of Simolens from taxes alone, and have a good health & education system...

    If your problem still persists, do the following:

    • Post a picture of your city in this topic
    • Post a screenshot of your traffic conjestion dataview
    • Post information on what you have built for your citizens
    Simtropolis would be happy to help!

    Actually, sims will still move in easily even with the base taxation rate of 9.0%. However I usually jack up the R$$$ rate to 9.7 (to prevent dilapidation), R$ to 9.0-9.2 (since I don't like them so much, not much revenue), and R$$ to 8.2-8.5% (since they should comprise bulk of your city). Note that dropping residential tax rates to very low values can be disastrous (especially for R$$$). This tends to create an artificial demand wherein sims move in in droves, find no jobs, then leave. Better just drop the C/I tax rates to create true demand.

    I just lately started  putting them in.

    By the way my new highest in 60,000 but long commute time put it down to 45,000

    HOW DO I HELP THIS???

    Whats do i need to make them use buses, subways, trains or monorails

    I have top notch health and education systems

    I should put the taxes down then. I just lave them on 9.0 but would it be better for me to bring it down if i want 100,000 - millions???

    I will try top bring pictures and can anyone tell me good parks or somethng good like that to download?
    I searched but it doesn't do good for me...

    If you can post screenshots of your city it might help.

    Sixers33, what you need to drop are your industrial and commercial taxes to stimulate growth. Basic idea:
    Drop taxes C/I-->C/I industries like it, move in your city -> C/I needs new workers --> sims move into your city -> higher population

    Contrast this with dropping R taxes excessively:
    Drop R taxes -> sims like idea of a tax break! --> move in your city --> NO jobs -> move out -> building dilapidation

    Note that the latter scenario can give you that notorious long commute time. A TRUE long commute only occurs when the workplace is distant (e.g. neighbor city) and/or your have high traffic congestion.

    For now, I suggest keeping R$ and R$$ at around maybe 8.0-8.2 (I don't go lower than 8 for fear of R$$ imbalance); keep your R$$$ at least 9.5. Then for your I and C, drop it as low as your budget can support. Your Cs$$$, Co$$, and Co$$$ should have the lowest rates since they support the greatest number of workers.
