First off I am in no way an expert at BAT and if you want quality head for NDEX or BSC or one of those guys. I am a begginer and I feel I am good enough to start a thread about my BAT work. But what is fun with saying This is a building and this is one that is completly unrelated. Like that guy who does tourism BATs (ak someone?...Sorry) or Superstar with his UN project or fosterk with his ships, I will be doing Airport BATs! These will be designed to be used in conjunction with Joerg's Airport Pack and will add a little diversity to your airport complexes.
 
These are what I will be doing first:
 
Small International Terminal,
New Control Tower,
Large International Terminal
and
Cargo Centre.

    I am still learning and getting  a few pointers from more experienced BATters but with a bit of luck (and improvment) the terminal I am working on will be my best work yet (That is not hard though because my other releases were not that good34.gif)

    Here is what I have done with the large at the moment. I am mainly working on the small one but I have done basic modelling on this terminal. What do you think?

    The crosses are concourses and the sticky out bit will be the entrance where check in is and all the ticket offices. I am planning to make jetways and I have asked arseingtonlexbury if they wanted to team up, so fingers crossed and I might have some better BAT talent with me3.gif!
    Please say what you think about the terminal as creative critizism is welcome!

    Yes Superstar. It doesn't catch much attention here. I have noticed that most recent posts in BAT workshop stay most recent for ages. I will ask someone to move this for me.
     
    I have got some new glass textures that will be useful for the concourses. If anyone knows any good sites where you can find glass that would be much appreciated!

    Thank you for being one of the very few who have attempted to tackle the SC4 airport terminal situation!! I, for one, think the Maxis terminals don't live up to what an airport should look like...especially the international one. I'm sure this will be a much anticipated collection! Thanks!!

    Ok, arseingtonlexbury has agreed to join me so he might be able to make my BATs look better but he will mostly be releasing his own. Thanks to EmergentFungus for moving the thread for me!
     
    I have changed the crosses on the large Intl. terminal from rectangles to Hexagonal Prisms. It looks better trust me!
     
    On the small intl. terminal I am going to hopefully make two levels, one for arrivals and one for departures (you'll know what I mean when I get a picture!).

    P.S-I am probably going to update the ATC tower as it has no jobs (I'll get talking to Equinox right away!). People said the price was a problem.

    Cool, somone else on Airport BAT's, Im doing a control tower, and is very soon finished, some pictures are avalible at the New Airport Pack thread, link in my sig. Might be good to know ^_^

    I have decided to start again on the terminals as I feel could do better. It looked a bit on the weird side too!
     
    I am having some trouble with texturing, if you have seen LQ2's tutorial on nightlighting then you will know that you should be able to texture in that same way, but when I do it it only textures it as a basic colour like white or pink. It is really strange, anyway I will have a play about with planes (Not flying ones, the ones in g-max).

    Another quick update. This what I have done so far. It has a large canvas type roof and a shelter at the entrance. This is going to be the large intl terminal.

    Well, the large terminal is coming along nicely, and I have made a start on the cargo centre. I have not yet started the small terminal because I started both terminals again. I am thinking of what else I can do, and here is what I have come up with:
    -Animal Reception Centre
    -Hotel
    -Police Station
    -Fire Station
     
    They have been done before (except from the Animal Reception Centre) but in the pack they were lots and SG's hotel is the only one of it's kind.
     
    I am asking you that if you can think of something that the game needs if it is airport related then please post it here and I will do my best.
     
    If anyone feels like helping out then post here or PM me. I have gate props from arseingtonlexbury and anyone else who has something but doesn't want to submit it personally can submit it to me if they want to help out voluntarily.

    I have a new terminal design. it is slightly based on the Star Alliance terminal at Munich Airport. Please tell me what you think as comments are very welcome, after all that was the point of this thread.

    Would the terminal be allowed on the STEX? It is 500m long! I doubt it would be allowed to be uploaded, I don't know the size of the file. If not I will have to make it smaller. I added a shelter to the front and a shelter to those three bus stations out front. Would anyone be interested in transit enabling it to allow cars to go past the front and under the tunnels?If not it doesn't matter, but it would be a nice feature. I will try and get it modded by Equinox to have jobs and a capacity if he can do that. I am still looking for glass textures.

    Well, regardless, I have finished it. I have reduced it to only one bus station as there isn't much need for three. I will do the ground stuff in LE. I just hope it turns out ok, the textures on the back didn't show up well in the BAT. I have contacted Equinox about modding it and exporting it. I am just waiting for an answer.

    did you happen to take a new pic on the progress of the Terminal Perhaps?
    Also a bit sidetracking, since your also on Airport BAT's, do you know how to actually make a lot act as if its an airport, since i want my ATCT to do this(like Joergs one).

    I have run into a problem, when I detach a part of one of the walls so I can texture it to be glass and light it, It doesn't texture properly. I have applied a UVW map and all-sorts. It worked on my other buildings. Can anyone explain this?

    This is before texturing. I split the front into 4 height bands and selected the band on the bottom and one from the top.

    After texturing it looks exactly the same and the bands have not changed at all, so...

    I rotated the detached bands and you can see that the highest one is just grey. The bottom is the same although you can't see it due to the shelter. It is very frustrating and confusing!46.gif

    I have sort of solved the problem, I just textured the whole wall front to be glass and it kinda looks better. The nightlights in the building don't show up, but does it really matter? The sign that says Terminal 1 lights up and the bus-station lights up...I think. The dependencies will be arseingtonlexbury's Airport Set because I will be using his gate props. If the render goes right tomorrow, then I should have it up on the STEX in the evening. Finally, I can concentrate on something else. I think now it will be the cargo terminal as that is looking good right now.
