My wild predictions:

Africa will skip the Industrial Revolution and go straight to digital-Johannesburg and Nairobi become major economic centres

The USA will go into recession but will have a major economic boom as Chrysler creates the world's first hovercar

Japanese companies immediately begin production of more efficient hovercars

Most cars will be ethanol/electric hybrids-major oil companies will remain based out of Alberta and Texas, but production will shift from oilfields to cornfields

Oil cities that are big enough will have diversified-blue collar extracting towns (Friday Night Lights anyone?) will be all but abandoned

Calgary & Edmonton will still hate each other

MP3's will be forgone in favour of more efficient digital music

New iPod's & computers will have several terabytes of memory-still won't be enough for some

90% of popular music will be purely digital-almost nobody will actually sing anymore

Europe, North America and Australia will be predominated by quasi-socialist democracies (kind of like modern-day Sweden)

The average American will be what would be referred to now as a screaming liberal

China will have more blue-collar jobs than any other nation

India will have more white-collar jobs than any other nation

China will become so polluted that everyone will need to wear gas masks-yet Shanghai will still host the 2052 Olympics

Japan will become so overcrowded that the population will spill over to other Pacific Rim nations as well as the United States and Canada, fueling population booms

After yet another ethnic genocide the world will still say "Never again," just like they did after the Holocaust

The Simpsons will enter its 62nd season

I think of 2050 like this:

-Oil decreasing rapidly, new sources of energy used

-Increasing growth of the Sun

-Global Warming causes severe hurricanes and flooding, Sahara Desert consumes most of North Africa

-Wars temporarily over in Africa, becomes a beacon for economic opportunity for Europe and North America

-South America becomes economic powerhouse, alot like Asia, South American cities come to resemble cities in Asia, with advanced technology, tall buildings, and overcrowding

-European Union becomes more powerful, may become more powerful than the U.S. in terms of military and economy

-Israel and Palestine stop fighting, Israel gives up land for Palestine, Palestinians granted citizenship in Israel

-Saudi Royal family overthrown by socialist revolutionaries

-World War III starts between Arab countries over control of holy sites in newly Socialist Saudi Arabia, which doesn't want anything to do with religion

-Genocide in Darfur "Second Holocaust," Darfur becomes independent country. Another Israel-type conflict begins.

-Iran threatens nuclear attack on the US, new Cold War starts.

-New pope elected from Argentina (or Brazil), Catholic Church becomes increasingly liberal

-Rap music becomes even more vulgar, involving gang crime, sex, and even strange perversions.

-Republican Party becomes increasingly liberal, Democratic Party becomes increasingly conservative (eventually they become pretty much the same)

-Chips will be implanted in government agents and criminals, to track them down...

-only about 40% of people in Europe will be caucasian

-iHouses, entire homes with built in technologies, hit the market

-Iran becomes Feminist Regime (another wild one)

-People will alter their genetics to run faster, jump higher, etc.

-Stange creatures created through genetic laboratories for Food industry (such as Chickens with no heads, just legs and thighs)

-WalMart collapses like Enron

-New president of United States, a radical right-wing corrupted politician, declared anti-Christ by several prestigous theologians

-American president drops nuclear bombs on 3rd world countries for profits, world goes into Apocalyptic War

-American President announces that all non-white people be exterminated, pretty much anyone who's not brainwashed by implanted chips fights back

-Huge Hurricane rams into entire East Coast

-Huge floods drench extremely overcrowded India and Bangladesh

-Huge Earthquake completely levels San Francisco, and half of Los Angeles

-European Union begins to crumble from corruptness and jealousy

-For the religious people, Jesus returns and tells everyone they're doomed. (Thanks alot! )

-A nuclear missle dropped in Gulf of Mexico by accident, entire Western Hemisphere wiped out, eventually the radiation spreads to Eastern Hemisphere, everyone dies.

What I think will happen is that:

First of all poverty can't be eradicated in the 3rd world as long as we exploit the 3rd World. I mean $1 for a pound of diamond to the workers in africa, Blood Diamonds. Thats just an example, there are a million other thing like this, Blood Oil, Blood Gold, Blood Silver, etc. We even use the wars and genocides to our own profit like selling them weapons for a profit.

And a Hydrogen is a piece of bs. 2 Trillion dollars to make it happen. Just add it to the already multi-trillion$ debt. And water vapour which comes out of its exaust is a green house gas. Just use mass transit my god. In an electric train u don't need 100 thousand $ batteries or milllion $ fuelcells all u nead is wires and rails, costly i know.

As for all these unions i just don't see it coming. Each nation has different things that it wants and a different perspective from which it views the world. So i don't see unions coming. UN is going to collapse because its almost bi-polar. America and russia want the exact opposite things.

Because of all of this exploitation in third world, civil wars or coups will happen like it happened in iran or is happening in nigeria. Either fundamentlist parties or communist parties will come out or both. And are probobly going to be anti-american because we exploit the most, can't blame them.

I forsee a genocide in the indian sub continent as radical hindus come out in response to all the fundamental muslims and there will be one hindu indian subcontinent state which includes afghanistan, india, pakistan, bengeladesh, sri lanka, burma, nepal.

The chinese economy will reach its climax in 10-20 years and collapse because of the 1 child policy. And gigantic cancer epidemics and other epidemics come out because of all the air pollution and is reliant on food imports because of its land becoming infertile cause of all the floods and droughts, duststorms and ground pollution through all the factories in there.

Russia might become a communist state again through pressures from the West and all the bad publicity about it. It's almost already anti-american.

The truth about iraq was it wasn't for oil but for a military station there because the suadis asked them to leave and iraq was selling its oil in euros that created less demand for the dollar and created inflation.

And probobly a major disaster here and there like a major earthquake in cascadia (washington) creating a tsunami and collapsing all the brick buuilldings in washington. Major earth quakes in Tokyo, San Franscico, Mephis, Alabama, Indonesia, Rift Valley in Africa.

Globol Warming as i see it is going at .ooo1 F not that much and if theres excess co2 then ther'll be just more algae blooms in the new warm areas that'll feed of the co2 and put the co2 into the ocean and it will eventually be turned back into oil. The Earth naturually readjusts itself even if we mess up. And for the sea level rising the ocean is probobly going to get deeper because of all the water pressure. Absorbing the excess water.
