    Hi

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

I was just drawing a road on a blank map when the game froze. I closed the program and now it wont start at all...just a low pitched beep once then back to desktop.

Wondering if this was anything related to my plug ins, I opened lot editor.....same reaction, low pitched beep and back to desktop with that as well. Following on from this route I opened the SC4 tool and plug in manager but they were ok.

Does anyone know if this is a typical conflict reaction?

Also, does anyone know how I might be able to identify the conflict if it is?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, we need to know about your system to work on any answer to this. Please follow the recommendations in the sticky thread above for bug reporting.

I suspect that you have had an Access violation due to insufficient memory, but we need a lot of info to help you sort this out.

Please post the info in this thread, thanks.

You might have to reinstall the game. My guess is that the game's file somehow got corrupted. THat was just a guess, so dont try it unless your sure thats the problem. And dont get mad at me if you try it and it doesnt fix it...

sounds like you might have DriectX issues too... LotEditor uses a different exe than SimCity.... but both use DX... both crashing could possibly mean a DirectX file becoming corrupt. but the chances that a game file is corrupt is more.

any time you get something like this happening, it's trial an error to try and find the exact promblem...so many variables

could be a new plugin lot or mod conflict. if possible try and back track any new plugins you may have added specially if the game was functioning properly before.

if the plugin can't be found try the old tried and true method...split the plugins in 1/2 and try the game again....open the game see if work...and widdle down til you find the offending file.

if the game doesn't crash on any of them...could be a mod or lot conflict...that the lot or mod that are conflicting are in seperate section...again...trial and error is the only true method to find plugin conflits

if your playing other games on your system...one of them could have overwriten your direct x file to something that simcity4 doesn't like, even may have changed other files too, you never know

if there are others on your system check if they installed any new games or programs lately...could be the problem....other have had sound card conflicts....or posible and update from Microsoft could be the problem done by auto-installers or installed bysomeone else on the system

un-installing your game may not fix the problem if it not something that is a not plugin, making it a big waste of time and the problem may still exist

hope it works out for ya...try some of the things mention...get back to us if your sucessful...letting know what your particular problem was, may help others in the futre, or we can try and help isolate the problem by other methods
