Ok, I'm obviouly not a novice at the game (or I wouldn't be asking the question) but I do know how to put together a good bus system...but that's about it. I've always been intimidated by the highways, and subways and rail...etc, etc...for fear that I will ruin my game and go bankrupt. Does anybody have any advice on how I can slowly bring this into my game with messing it up? 42.gif

start off slowly with rail and buses...there realitively cheap at the start to set up, and if use widely can actually make money for you.....later on upgrade to subways in highly dense urban areas when you bankrolled a large amout, subways are very expencive to set up (cost of making the tunnels mainly) but once set up subways aren't very much more expencive to maintain and can also make you money

set up most MT in R$ and R$$ areas of your town  (R$$$ sometimes use MT but like to drive their expecive cars) and make sure there are MT placement of buses and rail stations near the jobs that sims go to ...use rail for long haul trips in cities or for city to city travel and buses for shorter trips, even if the trip is from a rail station to bus stop...gets the sims to pay twice  16.gif

make sure you put them in the way of the route of travel for most sims, sims are kinda stupid and won't use the MT if they don't go by it on their way to work

the more area you cover with MT, and with higher popultaion...it will get more useage, and make more money.. use the query button to find their paths to work, and don't be afraid to cut road access in some areas to force sims to go by the MT (bus stop, rail station or subway)

And add Tollbooths to encourage use of MT! They'll make you some cash too, just be careful of the congestion they can cause.

How about decreasing the distance the sim has to walk to a bus stop. Try plopping a bus stop more frequently, for example, a bus stop every 17 squares of the road.

bus stop...I put them at least every 10 squares in low populated areas...every 5 in moderately dense areas...and almost get rid of them when i up grade to subways in highly dense areas ...as I ussually put the subways in place of the bus stops
