I´ve recently heard that Squaresoft will re-release Final Fantasy 7 under the title Advent Children - release will be in the middle of 2005. I couldn´t find any information on which platforms it will be released.

I´m very much looking forward to this - FF7 was always my favourite and has one of the best stories ever told in a video game.

I'll agree with that assessment.

Is anything changing? is this an extended director's cut or something? Updated graphics?!

Seems like I have to excuse - the whole thing is not a game, but a movie...

This is what I found on the net:

Advent Children is a continuation of the Final Fantasy 7 story. This takes place two years after the events of the final battle. The movie will be done in all CG and will feature a few new characters. Cloud seems to be the only known alive person from the original, Sephiroth scene looks like a flashback. It is not known if the parts of the trailer will actually be featured in the movie. So far, all we know for a release date is probably the summer of 2004 in Japan. Other than that, who knows what great things can come out of this.

The release date information is (obviously) not correct.

I'm a huge FFVII fan, (I think my avatar and my map on the STEX says that), and I've been following AC for a while.  There's a site that's got a lot of good info, www.adventchildren.net , and www.ign.com has the english trailer.  Yes, be very excited.10.gif

It's also been pushed back.8.gif  The Japanese release is sometime this spring.  Hopefully, they're making it perfect, so when it comes out for PSP (UMD video) and DVD (yes, that's most of us) it will blow us away!  Here's a few more pics to wet the appitite.9.gif

As always, immaculate CG. Looks even more realistic than Polar Express, but the lighting's off in those images. They probably got killed in the compression process.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'd go to see it regardless of the plotline (that CG is SO cool!), but the fact that it has a good plot is just icing on the cake.

It is not FF, it is Sony's Lactating Machine. As long as they release more, they can milk it.

The only good thing is character design. The plot is cliched and WAY more clicher in Asia (love... haven't seen a single drama where it is not love eccentric.)

Well, back in the 80s, Square was going bankrupt, so they decided to develop their final game, which was a fantasy game for the Famicom. Hence the name, Final Fantasy.

I agree in part, but 1) There's enough of a balance between drama and action to keep the stories from being too stale, and 2) the milk is still far sweeter than any other companies RPGs. (Except maybe the Tales games from Namco)

i think its sort of wierd.  My plastation was took from me before i could Finish FFVII.  So I would not get at all what this story is about.  One thing that does boggle me though, I seem Aerith in a picture of the new FFAC.  how can she be in it, shes dead.

Another thing i just noticed is that they all have cell phones, I forgot is FFVII the one where it is all technoligical, i thought that was FFVIII or does FFAC even have anything to do with the story from FFVII.

As far as Aerith goes, it's uncertain as to what exactly her role is going to be.  The scene shown with her has been described as a dream that Cloud has at some point, wanting forgiveness, but that's all anyone knows, I think.

The cell phones (are really frickin' cool, the one Cloud is using is being sold in Japan) WERE in FFVII, but known as the PHS, the means by which you could contact the other members of your party and trade up.  The story is part of the FFVII storyline, just like Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus, and takes place 2 years after the events at the end of the FFVII game.

I read in my friend magizine that Before Crisis is a mobile phone game and has a unique materia system, If you had a camera phone, and took a pic, the game will determine the type of materia it would be by take the majority of the colors in the photo. so If I too a pick in the dark, it would be a dark elemental

I am a big Final Fantasy fan myself. I cannot wait to see Final Fantasy: Advent Children. It is a computer graphics movie, and I am a fan of computer graphics movies. It has that beautiful Tifa Lockheart. Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite games, but my favorite is Final Fantasy X, as my user name implies.

Sorry, Squaresoft. If you don't understand what made FF7 great, don't make moke a movie about it.

This isn't a movie about the story of FFVII, but a sequal taking place two years later.  I've already read two reviews of it, (it's already out in Japan) and the reviews are GLOWING.29.gif

Guinea, no one seems to know when it will come across the Pacific, but the rumor is November.  I'm visiting www.adventchildren.net daily, so I'm trying to keep up to date.

It isn't that bad. I has some nice over-the-top action sequences. I also really liked seeing all the old characters again.

But the story isn't that good IMO - that's why I was really disappointed the first time I watched it.

I watched it again and this time I enjoyed it more. It's a nice movie, but not spectacular.

I just saw it myself yesterday, and for the most part, I agree with xiziz.44.gif

It definately is a fantastic movie, and a worthy entry into the FFVII Compilation.

On that note, I think I do see horrorkid's views.  I would have loved to have seen even a little bit more of the classic FFVII characters, and some more non-action time from them.  I think even another 15 minutes of footage would have been sufficient.  Plus, yes, Cloud's the hero, but I would have loved to have seen more battles that weren't one-on-one.

    Great music.9.gif

    Great quality.9.gif

    They did a kick-ass job with Aerith.44.gif
