I'm looking to get back into playing SimCity 4.

Just looking for advice on what windows version is compatible for SC4 on steam. I've seen that windows 11 causes issues. Is windows 10 best to use?

Also any recommendations on what size laptop memory would be best for performance?

It's all fake. Anyone complaining that SC4 doesn't work on Windows 11 is just lying because they haven't set up SC4.  That's why I don't recommend following the SC4-related discussions on Steam.

SC4 works on Windows 11, but it requires configuration on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Windows 10 is now an outdated operating system, so you won’t receive security updates, and if you’re only using it for SC4, it’s not worth it. Use Windows 11 and follow this guide

Linux also works fine for SC4 with some mild tinkering if you ever go down that route.
