I don't understand why the installation isn't working

I have installed the 4gb patch and I have installed java. However I have no option to run the installer, when I click it, it comes up with the 'get apps that can read this file' prompt.

I can't understand why it's not working.

Java is an application, the installer (.jar) file 'opens' with Java, much like a .docx file opens with MS Word, however that only works if the correct links exist in Windows. If double clicking doesn't work, right click it instead and select Open With, then tell Windows where Java is installed and select the correct application there to run it.

If this sounds convoluted, well yes it's not the most user friendly thing, however when you installed Java, these links should have been created as part of the install. So I can only guess that either the specific version of Java you installed didn't do that or some option which would have was not selected?

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I used Jarfix and it works now. Thanks you for your help.

    Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.
