New to forum.. mods take leniency on me I’m still figuring out this forum architecture. this was originally posted on Reddit but decided it would have some value in this community aswell.. hopefully a search engine will hit one or the other… and there are dedicated folk here worth sharing and for those interested below the original post a small recount of this learning experience.

Original post below:

MacBook Sequoia 15.6 Date mid Aug 25

.dat file location for NAM install..

Open up a finder window and follow the path

Open Macintosh - open Applications folder - locate and  Right click menu on SC4 Icon - select show package contents from Menu - open Contents folder- open Game data folder

Whack the .dat files in there (There are a heap of language folders and a handful of existing SC.dat files)

Now I’m off for some early teen nostalgia gaming.

TTFN

P.S. - if I have missed some info somewhere else (which is very likely) or there is a better way… plz break it to me gently.

it was kind of embarrasing the effort I went to to figure out this info. After reading the included how to html and jdatpacker files plus a couple of threads here on simtropolis and reddit. I ended up tracing through the visible folders, finding hidden (non-visible) folders. Reading that Mac App Store purchase support is limited I ended up in frustration using a carpet bombing approach the file location process with three ###.dat in every folder but to no avail.
so off to find new solution, looking for hidden files .. right clicked game icoN found the show contents in a menu.. scour new folder pathway and the relief moment finding the SimCity.Sat folders…

cmd c cmd v… load game.. loading took more than usual… yew bloody bewdy.. modded.

now I’m looking for any plugin folders and .dat files in slots that were useless.

hope this made someone chuckle.

Hiya! No worries. I fully understand. I was lost for the first few weeks especially between the Players Forums area and the Builders Forums area. (There were even a couple of things in them named nearly the same when I joined.)

Anyhow, welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

(I'm not a Mac Player, but I do read all the posts in this section.)

Hopefully our Mac peeps'll pop in and point you to them.

Good luck.
