Hi,
I'm new to using PIM so wasn't sure if it's a common issue. I have SC4 PIM-X X-tool X-PIM_2025b
The program works well, I have everything setup as instructed and I don't get crashes/freezing or anything I'd class as weird. Runs fast and am doing so from the suggested made plugins folder to minimise content, even though I've accidently opened it in my "Play" folder and had no issues.
My issue is that 90% of the time after some minor changes in the LE, it doesn't save, I now close the editor and reopen it, my changes are still viewable and I save again, sometimes I need to do it a few times, up to 4 lol. I'm on a fairly new laptop running win11, tonnes of space/ram/etc. Running in admin and on the service XP pack2 and everything in the download has been added.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

That's never happened to me, but are you sure you're hitting "save" after every edit?  If you exit out the tab without saving your lot edits, it will not be saved.

    Yeah, I thought at first I may of done that so now save every instance of a change eg. remove base texture...Save...add new texture...Save...add overlay...Save and so on. But when I put the lot into the game it's one or two saves behind.
    One thing that made me question my installation of PIM was in the SC4 PIM-X X-tool X-PIM_2025b.zip it has 2 lots of the same files (as it seems). After extracting the zip you get the Setup SC4 PIM-X X-tool X_PIM_2025b folder, it's contents as shown in the image below. The last folder is the same as the one you just opened and it has the same 01 to 04 folders in it???

    Just come to the conclusion its only base textures that take multiple saves to save or sometimes not at all. I can create a whole lot and it all saves, just not the textures, it's faster for me to open the old LE and add the textures there without the issues.

    @Dono I'm happy to see you've found a viable workaround. *:)

    One little tidbit you prolly already know about PIM-X is that it can save lots which have no base textures, but do have overlay textures. Maxis's LE cannot. (Tis handy if you are doing paths or other things where you want your terrain mod to show thru and with @memo's Transparent Texture (Water Bug) Fix DLL the age-old problem is vanquished.)

    Yes, Philforhocky51 has been has been a big help in my lotting journey and he just recently told me. Unfortunately as it's to do with textures I'll need to do it the old way. When done in PIM, PIM displays the lot with no base but in game, it puts the default concrete on it.

    As long as you have a plan that works consistently for you, that's the key goal. *:)  (I used do do my texture swaps in Reader. :boggle:)

    Does PIM list the textures like this (bottom two rows)?

    If so, check whether the texture you're trying to add is actually loaded in PIM on startup. It might be that while the texture ID is saved on the lot, PIM simply doesn't have a texture for that. Which will lead to it displaying it with no base. The game will load the entire plugins folder, including the texture.

    I think it does, but not sure what's listed exactly as I don't have it infront of me atm.

     For some weird reason PIM wont save any changes to do with textures, well it does at times but only after a lot of attempts. Cori was saying that PIM had a good feature of being able to save without a base texture to let ground textures come through that the old LE wouldn't let you do. But even if I try to save without the base texture, it will show as clear on the lot, but in game it places a default concrete base. I have a save issue but who knows lol. Unfortunately I just have to open the old LE to to do textures at the moment.
