Lost Most Regions

Tried to stop multi CTD's and used a tip from another site...but when I was in to SimCity 4 Deluxe-my main game-None of my Regions were there only the default ones. So after many years of playing I lost most of my regions and it also looks like most of my plugins!

OK....found my plugins and regions: they are in My Documents...however on startup, they do not seem to be included....just the original ones from the game itself. So wondering what I have done wrong: Should I use the original startup button...as I am using the SimCity 4 launcher. Sorry if I am being vague, however this issue hasn't come up before. However I am happy that I have found all of the plugins and regions!

It does sound like you were originally using one method to start and play the game and all was well. Then you tinkered with a launcher and it seemed like all hell broke loose and swallowed up your files.

First thing I would do is make a copy of all of the SimCity 4 folder that's in My Documents to somewhere for safe keeping. If you have room on the current drive, that'd be better than nothing. But, ideally, also onto some other physical media like a flash drive or passport or such.

And then yes, I would try going back to the original starting method and see if that works again. Perhaps the launcher is somehow set to include the -UserDir:path command and that might be what's making it go goofy?

 I am having a somewhat similar problem, my regions don't load only the default regions, I can't find where it is loading these from.

Have you used a standard game installation method. If so, do you have a 'Regions' folder in the C:\Users\***\Documents\SimCity 4 directory? You should put any downloaded/created regions in that folder.

If you have used another installation method, let us know. 

If the game cannot 'find' any regions where they're expected, it will create a new Regions folder and copy over whatever is in the Program Files SimCity 4 Deluxe/Regions folder which usually only contains the default regions (unless you've put something there).

Are your regions in the Documents/SimCity 4/Regions folder, now? Are they showing up in the game?
