    Hello, I'm back... maybe...? 😂

I'm trying rendering my building on BAT4Blender now. I set the sky/sun lighting and now it looks similar to a screenshot of a Gmax rendering that I made before. I wanted to add the nitelite lightings on the building but BAT4Blender doesn't seem to support extra lighting yet. So maybe I'll try a building that doesn't require extra night lights.

Here is the recent render pic of my latest BAT.

    Current status of my BAT

Yep... I'm very slow at making BAT... I'm so sorry about that. But I've been very busy in reality lately. :(

It would be nice to have a tutorial that summarizes the process from exporting the building from BAT4Blender to completing the BAT.
And I hope the BAT4Blender will have Day, MN, DN lighting presets someday. The process of adjusting the lighting settings to in-game is very difficult...

This looks very good!  I think it would make a great high wealth residential, or a hotel. One suggestion is to make the ground floor more inviting.  Change the small windows to be bigger windows and add more entrances and lessen the blank wall space.  Maybe make some of the ground floor into retail shops or restaurants.  Right now, it looks odd having just the one small door entrance for such a building of this size (in real life, it'd be considered a fire hazard and would never pass permits) and that door is hidden inside behind the shadows of the building, which is not very inviting.

Here are a couple real world examples.  You could even push that one door that you have inside outward by extending only the ground floor out toward the street and then putting a small garden or greenspace above it, similar to the photo below behind the flag:

Hello! Yes, That is the part that I'm thinking about now. I have a same opinion with you. Only one door for the huge building? Yes, that's nonsense.

It's inspired a lot from 'The Dorilton' building in NY. I think that's the why my BAT has only one door.😂

I'll add some more doors and a long awning in front of the main gate door soon. Thanks for your opinion! :)

I would pull out some of the saturation of the red bricks.
Right now it is super super super red.  I think it would stick out and scream "RED" when growing next to a lot of buildings in SC4, both Maxis and custom.
Maybe even just 10% or 15% less saturated, and I think it would help let it blend into its SC4 surroundings.

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

I agree with @madhatter106the red is dominating the building, see if you can lower the saturation a bit. Looking forward to this bat! But take your time.

Lovely choice of building, I love American Beaux Arts.

:) Thank you so much! I love Beaux-Arts skyscrapers too.

Thank you Madhatter and SneakyDeaky! I tried to lower the saturation of the red brick wall. And it looks more realistic and better! Thank you for always giving me feedback on my BAT. ;D

Hello, It's been a while! I'm here to talk about a building I'm thinking about making recently.

Actually, I'm making SimCity 4 BAT as a hobby and I have my real life tasks... so making speed is quite slow.

Anyway, Here is 3 BAT concept arts that I designed long ago.

    1.

    697e27d5619e7_.png.a53b61adfe84d4de9c82feefc43a683d.png

I designed this office building right after I saw the 'Singer Building' photo. Yes, I can't deny this building is absolutely inspired from that skyscraper.

This design is quite old and there are some parts that I don't like, so if it is made into a BAT, the exterior might be slightly modified during the process.

    2.

    697e27e9a003d_.png.696b8ab4b9ccf58ed729c9ca8ceedf1a.png

This building is a department store. I only designed the front, so the other sides will have to be created too when making it into a BAT.

    3.

Two hotels in one lot! (Don't mind the neon sign text on the left building.😂)

I’m not sure what to make first...🤔

When in doubt, use a random number generator: https://www.random.org/

All the options are quite nice!

    Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.

Hello! I missed Simtropolis so much! I'm so glad that Simtropolis is back. :D

    +

I haven't been able to touch BAT at all recently due to other work. It seems I might be able to make BATs little by little starting in late June.
