Just as i did with Medieval Dynasty, this will be an introduction to another RPG with a city builder twist. This time playing out in feudal Japan, during the Sengoku Jidai. A period of continuously civil warfare in the 15th and 16th century. The game is still in early access.

Our group of peasants fled the village and traveled through the dangerous and chaotic land of civil war. In the end, we set sail for a better destiny, but a storm smashed the small fishing boats, bought with our last bronze coins, against an unknown rocky shore.

I woke up on the beach and soon I found Ako, a girl from my village. She was sick, but after we got a fire burning and she had some food, she felt a little better, just needed to sleep.

The nearest village lay in ruins, most of the inhabitants had been killed or had fled. Only a few had remained.

The burned village was known as Sosogi. In the village I talked to a former rebel and bandit Kōjirō, living with a group of former warriors at the cost. Telling me the sad story of the war and the burning of the village.

I also met a local survivor of the war, a girl called Sayuri. living amongst the ruins in a small simple shelter.

I made friends with a local scavenger Tōshichi, living from hand to mouth in the area of Sosogi. He was very informative and told me about the nearby villages and people.

Me and my traveling companion Ako, was in dear need of some protein. I made a spear and took to the woods hunting for food. Was lucky and took down a wild boar, getting only a few scratches and bruises from the encounter. In the forest I saw a wooden tower, turned out to be the home of former soldier Kengyō and his foster son Kimumatsu. Kengyō seemingly not a pleasent foster father and generally a paranoid, not very likable creature.

On the outskirts of Sosogi lives Shinto priestess Chiyome, she told me about a nearby shrine. Dedicated to Inari, the goddess of bountiful harvest, financial success and protection from accidents and disasters in agricultural endeavors.

I found it and offered to the goddess.

Ako made a new friend Yohira, another lonely girl losing everything in the village fire. She will help us re-build the village. Also, Sayuri, I met earlier, has joined our small group. Looking over the remains of what was once Sosogi, I can already imagine a busy new Sosogi with houses, workshops and storage, surrounded by lush fields.

Months has passed since we came to the beach near Sosogi. We have now built two houses, storage and a well to provide water. Ako-san and Sayuri-san shares a house. Yohira-san and I the other.

    C1JsJOB.jpeg

I am mainly hunting, foraging and cooking our food. Yohira takes care of the well. Sayuri is working on the collapsed bridge. Ako collect wood from a hut in the forest. It would be obvious to start farming, but we got no seeds.

During my hunt along the coastline south of Sosogi, I came to Enjirō.

    BC1qtkA.jpeg

A camp of pirates and bandits, mostly former samurai, ruled by a woman named Tokuko. As I had no fortune to steal, they were sort of friendly. Wouldn’t want to cross them though. Could become very dangerous neighbors.

Sayuri-san finished the bridge project over Sosogi Gawa, opening up the roads towards the inland.

This was all from Sengoku Dynasty for now. The game is beautiful, but lack a lot of crucial development, hopefully comming in future updates.

Expect to continue the story, when the game comes to 1.0 (official release)
