Can't open SimCity with the EA App

EA app won't allow me to open the game when I install mods. I have the game installed to my f drive and tried installing my mods there. Now every time I try to launch the game SimCity won't open.

I'm new to SC13 mods, experiencing the same. I'm trying to install the UI Enhancement mod Akar required for Orion map extension, but the game stops starting when I install it. The game started fine before in Singleplayer mode. Now it says "Error Code SMCY-24: Error downloading SimCity" and in the left corner it suddenly shows Multiplayer for some reason.

That would be sad if mods aren't working anymore with the new EA app... Without the map extension the game doesn't really cut it for me.

Update: after a bit of tinkering and trying I got it to work, at least with Akar and Orion. Apparently the EA app has scrapped a previously existing folder "SimCityUserData". Akar Roads has two files in this folder. When adding them with the folder SimCityUserData to the game installation the game bricks upon trying to launch. What I did is simply move the two files in the SimCityData folder and delete SimCityUserData and it worked.
