Using custom buildings

Hello, how do i get downloaded buildings to work ingame, i placed the .bld files in the buildings folder , not seeing anything in game, is there something i am missing?

It's been too many years since I worked with .bld files, but I found where I'd said this long ago:

Change Settings & Exit, City Options, User-Made Buildings (Select), then Edit List. From there you can add buildings the same as the Render to SimCity 3000 Building List in the BAP.

 

And, iirc, you need to replace a building with the same size footprint. Like if the .bld you have is 4 x 4, then that's the only size that it'll allow replacing.

OK that worked , Thank you, ...so you can only replace buildings though? is there a way to add them to roster of buildings that would naturally spawn in , in a zoned area?

I'm going off a too long ago memory, but I believe there were two ways to get buildings into the game. The aforementioned one and the other is to create them as landmarks.

However, don't take that as gospel unless other peeps can confirm it.
