Hello guys!

I'm a newbie on Simtropolis and with add-ons, recently I added a police station (please see picture below).

After installing I noticed therenwas no building, so I DELETED THE FILE FROM MY PLUGIN FOLDER. BUT, I DID NOT DESTROY THE BUILDING WITHIM MY GAME.

Then I found out I was missing dependencies which resulted in my no building prop.

So once I installed my dependencies i reinstalled the large police station.

Then, that's when I got this error: no name (please see picture below) of the once police station. Then every time I make a new police station of any kind.  The radius shrinks.

Please any help 🙏 thank you.

I have also had an issue with this building. I do CAM cities, and decided to test @CorinaMarie's mod pacc zero files (because beginning players will eventually move on and start downloading stuff :D ). This building must have the same id as the vanilla large police station, because it popped to the top of the menu with the hotkey alt-p (which also appeared on the maxis large police station in the menu). Destroying the building and plopping a maxis one created the slider bug. Replopping it brought back the airport crime bug.

The only way I was able to correct it was to remove it and reload the city from a backup. Maybe Cori has another way? (I'm not a modder, I have no idea how to analyze a file.)

Yes, there is a way now to fix any phantom slider bug, but it's a wee bit of a tedious process.

In the case where it shows Error No Name, it can be fixed so the city is playable with no slider bug, but that non-name will remain in the list forever and it'll need a specific lot to offset the funding bug which will also have to remain in the city forever.

The Error No Name happens for certain when a lot doesn't have the PluginPackID set and it's bulldozed while the file is not in your plugins folder. I've not looked at the linked police station file, but it could also be even with a PluginPackID and bulldozed without being in plugins. (You may have discovered another way the slider bug can appear.)

  1. Make a backup of the city tile which can be used later with the "fix" lot, but we'll also need to be able to save one where the tests are performed.

  2. In the test copy of the city tile, bulldoze every police station except one vanilla one (or one where you do have the proper file in plugins). Set its funding slider to 100% (not full to the right which is 120%) so the cost shows the same as the Monthly Maintenance Cost. A vanilla Large Police Station works fine for this and set it to $250.

  3. Save the game. (Remember this is the test copy of the city tile and not the backup you made before we went adozing.)

  4. Start medium speed time running and open the station's query panel. As soon as the slider moves, close the panel, pause the game, then re-query the station.

  5. Write down what the funding changed to. If it was cut by more than half, exit to the region, and reenter the city tile and plop two more of the same station. Check that they are all set to 100% funding. Save again so we have this as a base to work from.

  6. Repeat step 4 until you have five times that the slider has dropped, but has not reached zero. If needing more than one station, it's the total police funding we need to know. Note: We also don't want so many stations such that the overall drop is negligible over the 5 month run. Ideally at the end of the 5 months the final total funding is about 10 to 30ish percent of the initial start.

  7. Post the number of stations needed for this test, the starting funding as a dollar (well, Simoleon) amount, and then the funding for the next five months. From this we can calculate exactly what the offset needs to be.

  8. Then we make a lot with the correct negative offset needed and you test that in the game to be sure it fixes the bug.

  9. Once that works, remove the test copy of the city tile, copy the original bugged backup into the region folder, load the city tile, plop the "fix" lot, and run time.

For slider bugs where there is not an Error No Name (and are not medical funding) we can actually make a fix lot, plop it, save, quit, remove the lot from plugins, reload the game and then bulldoze that while it's not in plugins, save again and the tile is fixed with no need to keep a "fix" lot in the city tile. This last part seems to go against what I said about the trouble starting when bulldozing while the file is not in plugins, but it's a specifically crafted one that removes the superfluous data from the internal totaling sub-file in the save game data.

I only mention the last paragraph for when there's the more common slider bug.
