Ver realistic (apart from the name). I love the way the shops line the avenues. Im a big fan of maps aswell and I think the white one looks better than the black one.

Great CJ, I look forward to more.

You have some good ideas there would like to see how you are developing your docklands.

Keep it up

    ^And the docklands are what I'll show today.

    First off, it's been a while (again) snice the last update but in the past month the city has reached 500,000 residents, with significant growth taking place along the SimNation 7 and 79 corridors on the southwest and northeast parts. Also, construction of Loop 207 has been completed all the way through and an extension between The Docks and Arrowhead point is currently being planned. Finally, rumors are floating that a plans of a second loop in the form of a turnpike have been tossed around. Whether or not this will actually benefit the city has yet to be determined, for as big as the city appears, in terms of population it's still kinda small.

    A tranportation view of the city today, well at least most of it. It's spread out to the point now where I can't fit the whole thing on the screen.

    alienlovesecrettrans8bt.jpg

    Now The Docks are an area of town I'm not quite sure about. I'd like to hear any kind of comments/criticisms about it that you have.

    thedocks11fk.jpg

    You can probably tell from the air pollution that The Docks are the city's main industrial hub.

    thedocks23jj.jpg

    thedocks36gx.jpg

    I've built multiple seaports here, and adjusted the capacity for each. What I'm wondering is if what I've built is very realistic or not, since seaports are rarely something I mess with. I also wonder if theres a seaport pack out there similar to the airport pack that I'm using. So if anybody has something they wanna say or recommend, let me hear it.1.gif

    <ahttp://img233.exs.cx/img233/7790/thedocks47bk.jpg align=baseline>

    Finally, The East side is actually some pretty new growth. It wasn't too long ago that this was a bunch of farmland. You can also see the beginnings of the Loop 207 extension.

    Later I'll show some of the other new growth around town, and throw out some more details about the new turnpike.

    Great updates. Your city really is an inspiration (at least for me).

    The docklands look very realistic. Except maybe of the coastline, which looks too - natural to me.

    PhilsCafe: I think you nailed it. But just today I came across PEG's Industrial CDK, and I've been messing around with that a bit. It's turning out to be a really nice improvement. Plus it looks awesome at night. I'll show everybody what I've got going here in a bit.

    *Edit*

    Ok, now have a look at it.

    Weird name...but forget the name, this region is great. It's realistic and very nicely built. The seaports are great. That map is absolutely incredible! Great job. 10.gif

    I agree, that map is incredible.  And I don't think I've seen such a large industrial area like that before.  It's actually quite realistic, as industrial areas tend to be very large.  Looks great!

    It's good to see someone point that out. Just for that comment, you're a friend in my book.44.gif I bet you can figure out the other city names as well. A lot of 'em are from Satch, but a few are from other artists. I'll just look up some interesting song names from my record or mp3 collection and use them as a city name, rather than think up some traditional name.

    But back on topic, I'll likely post new pictures over the weekend, so keep a lookout.

    SimNation highway 7: From southern edge to downtown

    BIG update today - a collection of shots along a stetch of highway 7 spanning approximately 25 miles. All shots look to the north.

    <ahttp://img183.exs.cx/img183/7840/simnation710hm.jpg align=baseline>

    About 6 miles from Sledgehammer Village. The only point of interest here is a rest area near an intersection with a county road.

    <ahttp://img237.exs.cx/img237/6099/simnation721ip.jpg align=baseline>

    South side of Sledgehammer Village.

    <ahttp://img237.exs.cx/img237/9625/simnation732kp.jpg align=baseline>

    North side of Sledgehammer Village. Here starts some of the vast corporate-owned acres of farmland.

    <ahttp://img174.exs.cx/img174/7930/simnation746nu.jpg align=baseline>

    South side of Banana Mango City. Highway 7 hits the highway 65 extension on the far side of this shot. You can see some of the right of way that has been reserved for a future turnpike.

    <ahttp://img18.exs.cx/img18/4000/simnation751bk.jpg align=baseline>

    At Banana Mango City.

    <ahttp://img18.exs.cx/img18/9751/simnation767fr.jpg align=baseline>

    North side of banana Mango City. A few subdivisions have already popped up. Suburbia will be here soon, and it will show no mercy.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/9991/simnation772jn.jpg align=baseline>

    Just across the Alien Love Secret city limit sign.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/631/simnation788gz.jpg align=baseline>

    Subdivisions.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/1375/simnation793bw.jpg align=baseline>

    Intersection of 7 and Loop 207. A stack will be built here eventually.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/4872/simnation7102fq.jpg align=baseline>
    Near Love Secret Municipal Airport.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/8729/simnation7113iy.jpg align=baseline>

    Just east of the airport.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/7678/simnation7123kq.jpg align=baseline>

    Intersection of 7 and 150.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/6757/simnation7136ig.jpg align=baseline>

    Old highway 7 branches off here.

    <ahttp://img169.exs.cx/img169/5994/simnation7145xy.jpg align=baseline>

    At highway 13 in downtown Alien Love Secret.

    To be continued....

    If nobody ever bumps this thread, then I'll do.

    I don't like highways very much (I don't even like driving on them very much). So it is hard for me to comment. That's why I didin't post earlier. But the longer I'm thinkin' about it (and I have been thinkin about it for at least one month) the clearer it gets: Your highway must be very realistic since it is able to frighten me...

    Hope there'll be an update soon.

    - Phil

    Hey, thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it.44.gif I gotta admit, even I haven't even checked up on my CJ in quite a while, and I especially haven't looked at any of the other people's CJs either. The RLS has been way hardcore lately - I've only messed with the city maybe a couple hours over the past month. But don't worry, I've had to say before that the city is still alive and kicking, and it still is today.

    I'm gonna try to post the Northern half of highway 7 tomorrow. I think it's definitely overdue. After that, I think I'm gonna start beefing up the downtown area a bit. The city has sprawled out to the point now that I feel that it's ready for a little bit taller skyline.

    SimNation highway 7: From downtown to northern outskirts

    This update includes a little over 20 more miles of highway 7.
    simnation7154ee.jpg
    East side of downtown.

    simnation7167ol.jpg
    Interchange of 7 and highway 20. 7 curves to the east towards the Docks here.

    simnation7179ow.jpg
    West side of the Docks. Highway 20 can be seen to the south.

    simnation7184zd.jpg
    East side of the Docks. The bridge to the south is part of the old highway.

    simnation7190dm.jpg
    East Intersection of 7 and Loop 207.

    simnation7200yn.jpg
    East of the Docks.

    simnation7213ts.jpg
    East of the Docks. The highway curves back to the North.

    simnation7226np.jpg
    About 3 miles ahead in Threshold City, a booming suburb.

    simnation7239ar.jpg
    North side of Threshold City.

    simnation7245sb.jpg
    Just to the North of Threshold City is the superconnector for the up-and-coming turnpike.

    simnation7257pm.jpg
    5 miles of basically nothing, but it would make for a pretty nice drive, so I posted it anyway.

    simnation7265te.jpg
    Crystal Shores, a quaint town in the far North outskirts. This area will grow eventually.

    simnation7272ay.jpg
    The last little bit of civilization on the northern section. Highway 7 continues for another 8 miles of what is pretty much limbo until I figure out what I want to do with it.

    Next update will likely include the downtown area, as well as a new region shot including the new turnpike. Hopefully it won't take me another whole month to do it.31.gif Until then enjoy the new pictures and comments are certainly welcome.1.gif

    Big versions of the region shots are available here and here . Each is about 750-800 kb, though. Enjoy!
