Missing textboxes and music

I had a copy of SimCity 4 on my old laptop, and used a shared folder on the Network (in the Windows Explorer) to transfer the game and all its files to another computer. However, when I booted up SimCity 4 on the new computer, the fonts and the music were missing. I tried multiple file transfers between both computers, with the shared folder as the "middleman", and the particular problem of no fonts and no music still are not solved. I made sure to select every single file on the old PC, dragged it to the network folder, than selected every single file there to move it to a Maxis folder in Program Files.

The only thing I changed is that the UKEnglsh folder is the English folder in the new PC. That did not change anything.

I'm sorry, but we can't allow discussion related to pirated versions of SC4 on Simtropolis.

Frankly, you can buy a digital copy for 10€ right now on Steam, during sales, GoG, Steam and other vendors have this game as low as 2,50€-5€, such sales happen frequently too. I'll note also, CD/Disk versions will not work on Windows 10 due to the drivers needed to validate the on-disk DRM being removed from the O/S. So you will need a digital version in order to keep playing on Win10.

My guess is that if simply copying the files hasn't worked, perhaps these parts either rely on registry entries, configuration files or even their own secure/encryption techniques. All of which may not work unless you've used the installer in order to get the game running. Very few modern apps can simply be copy/pasted between computers, the last time you could do that reliably was with Windows 3.11/DOS. So I'd remove the files (there won't be an uninstall option if you didn't use the installer), then use the proper installer which should work fine.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
