I couldn't help noticing about what you said about the underwater tunnels
It seems the UDI automobiles can't go through underwater tunnels, they come out at the 'decend'. I tryed it with the UDI train, and the UDI train drove through fine, with the exception of the lights...as you described.
The cars, as if by magic, come through the, cliff, aka, your sea-wall, right?

Perhaps if someone or something caused the tunnel to 'bend' below the ground would help keep the cars in the tunnel:

Normal Tunnel:
_____ Tunnel route _____
____|_<=>_\=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=__=/_<=>_|___ <=> is a normal tunnel entrance
water level / lvl 0 evelation

Lets say the tunnel is built this way (normal sc4 style), the cars travel through tunnel, (mapped by the [=] )and come out down the cliff ( the / or \), unable to pass to the other end, unable to cross the water.

If the underwater tunnels could be built this way:
Perhaps if someone or something caused the tunnel to 'bend' below the ground would help:

Proposed possible Tunnel: __
_____ _| |_ _____
____|_<=>_\__________________\___/__________________/_<=>_|___
=\_________________water_________________/=
= = = = = Tunnel route = = = = =
If there was a mod that caused the tunnel to be built below the sea floor, OR would make the tunnels take the shape of the terrain forming, that means the tunnel takes the shape of the leveling. This might allow the UDI vehicles to beable to travel through, just like real life underwater tunnels.

A dream, but come true?10.gif

Hi, Ive fixed the link to my pics now, I cleared my browser cache then refreshed then page and the seem to work. Its a shame the lots cant have ghost images. I guess we will just have to remember the lot direction by the arrows like you say. 1.gif

jeronij...

What can I say, beside EXCELLENT work with those walls, those are the details that really make a city come alive !

I use your cement wall since you posted them, was VERY pleased when you corrected the texture conflict problem.

Thanks a lot ! EA and Maxis should bow before you and all the modders at Simtropolis, you are transforming this good game into a little wonder.

    Hi imotepp,

    the underwater tunnels must be build. They are not lots or such a thing.

    you can make a search in the forums with keyword= tunnel and you will find mountains of info there.

    you can start here:
    https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=41827&forumID=22

    and be patient... 1.gif it takes some practice to make nice tunnels...38.gif

    I really like the walls, jeronij. There's just one problem I've encountered while using them in my latest city, as the attached picture shows. This is of course an issue only with this diagonal direction, the one next to it is fine. Is there a solution available?

    Hi dukt.

    You are rigth. It seems the game engine has some kind of bug with diagonal tiles. I have been dealing with this issue and unfortunately I couldnt find a good solution.

    The only solution I find is to terraform thebad diagonal tiles one by one with the Mayor mode terraforming tools at Shift+1. You must make the tile grow up (make a single click, then another, then another and so on...), and it will arrive a moment when the tile magically will change to the adecuate shape. The problem is that maybe you will destroy some of the constructions around if you take no care. And maybe the diagonal line of terrain will be too high for your desires.

    Just try and hope it helps you.

    But it is the best I can tell you. If someone knows another solution, will be wellcome.

    Hi Jeronij,

    I'm not sure if this is technically possible, or if you're able and willing to create it, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

    Would it be possible to create 'overhanging' lots for your Concrete Walls set? Marrast's embankment set also has to of these lots. They are 1x1 lots but when you plop them they become 1x2 or 1x3 lots so that you can place them under bridges.

    Do you think this is possible? See also the picture for what I mean:

    @Havenburgher

    i've been working on walls of my own. i too didn't like the abrupt transitions like that, so i tried to create end pieces... guess what? they worked!!

    what i did was find some textures, then i rotated them at 45 degree angle. then using a mesh wrap tool, i warped the pieces so they had a much more curved angle that a straight one.

    i have a preliminary version on my computer. if you give me your email, i might send it to you.

    know this: i don't plan on releasing my lots on the STEX. there might be conflicts as i never tested this out....

    here's a shot:

    Hello to all,

    sorry for not replying before, not much time lately 34.gif

    As you can see, buddybud has fortunately choosen my wall textures for his first underbridge pieces, and I think this will be a great improvement and will greatly improve the way to use the walls.

    I have no idea about BATting, and I could never do such a props 43.gif.

    Great work, buddybud 44.gif

    @buddybud

    me like yours :-D but i have 3 questions:

    1. what happens when the trench is deeper or shallower? from my own experiences with overhanging props, it cause a problem. have you been able to fix it?

    2. will we be able to replace jeronij's textures?

    3. finally, can you make something for the ramps? i use a lot of ramps near overpasses, so it'd be nice to have a little something to make the transition on the ramps smoother

    great work buddybudy!!! it makes SC4 a hell of a lot better! keep it up!!!

    @ buddybud Your underbridge pieces look very good! I can't wait to use these in my cities. Great work!

    @ prince_of_sims Your onramp endpieces look good too, but they don't combine very well with Jeronij's walls. I'd like to keep using Jeronij's walls, since I've already used them all over my cities.

    ya ...if you go to page four of my thread youll see i found a way to make sure they are level.....in relation to the slope of the trench....post there if you have more questions....i dont want to flood jeronij's thread with stuff about my pieces...

    and ya...unless you are a mac user you can change the embankment texture in le.....

    as for the ramps....i think i can but havent tried.....there is a thread by Mayor Ace....who was attempting that....i currently need to finish up what im doing....focusing on under nam and bridge pieces...there was lots of terrain to cover 2.gif

    by the way thanx jeronij for your permission to use your texture...and the use of your thread...i got a hole in my head i gotta sew up...35.gif...... pst...... thats why im so slow..lol

    edit heres an update

    hey jeronij ...just an update gettinit08.jpg

    looks nice eh?...ive been really enjoying this

    in short as you can see there's some pieces in the picture not in your concrete wall bat...
    in order to deal with complex interchanges and such...i made an bunch of aditional textures....including two diagonal overlays ...heres a screny of them...
    gettinit04.jpg
    the bottom three rows are essential in my opinion and would be the base add on set to yours

    your original texture for the 1x1 by one lot is retained so it would be a dependency
    all the diagonal pieces are now overlays so they can be used in various areas etc
    essentially the prime additional pieces are the two horizontal and two diagonal end pieces, the four 'upper-lower terrace joiners' and the two additional corner pieces...

    the top row is an eyecandy stair set (and balcony)....

    all the props; stairs, fences, etc are slope conforming also...

    gettinit03.jpg

    in short i think these additional pieces will really help me further develop what i'm doing but also i think others might like them....so what ya think...can i realease these as an add on packs for your set...their ready to go for upload...so just give me the word..

    ps...heres a shot of textures im developing for my industrial under bridge set....what ya think
