How to raise the capacity of rail line?

If I am not mistaken, the railroad tracks have capacity of 20,000 passengers.  Can I raise this figure to like 50,000?  If this is possible, can somehow please share the knowledge?

If you know how to use Ilive's Reader, it's trivial to do. Just edit the traffic exemplar to suit your taste. You might want to mod the rail stations too, though.

I don't know anything about ilive reader, but have you considered downloading some high capacity train stations??

After all, the capacity of the station determines how many people end up on the tracks. 3.gif

I played around with iLive reader, but can't find where to adjust the capacity of railroad tracks. Can someone please tell me where I can find this value.

Ok, I'm not sure how much you know about modding, so I'll try and make this easy.

If you have the NAM, then open up your NAM traffic plugin file (it's called NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_***.dat) and click on the exemplar file. If you don't have the NAM, open up simcity_1.DAT and find the exemplar with the instance C9133286 (by clicking the Instance column and scrolling down); when you find it, click on it.

Once you have the exemplar open, about 2/3 of the way down, there is a property called Network Traffic Capacity (0xA92356B3). Double click on it and you'll see a list of numbers. The second one is for rail...change it as you see fit and then hit apply. Save the file, and voila! New rail capacity.

With the option I have selected, that number reads 3000.000000.  Does that mean that the rail becomes congested at 3 thousand usage?  Would that mean that, say 2 stations with 1500 usage, would be the capacity for any one rail?

EDIT: What are the numbers that come after lr?

    Hi Tungston,

I noticed before I started using transport mods that two stations above capacity would cause the train line to read as congested (ie red).

I used to use Traffic Cop to modify this, but now I use the increased capacity options in the NAM mod. I guess if you wanted to increase it further you could do as qurlix suggested.

The capacities of the train stations and the lines are two seperate things. If you used higher capacity train stations only, your lines would become congested with fewer stations. So it would be advisable to increase the capacity of the lines as well.

The subway is labeled, the 8th down.  But I am still trying to determine which is the monorail, as there are 4 numbers after the lr [light rail, I'm guessing].  Although, why would there be a different capacity for the elevated rail, than the subway?  I am going with the lr for monorail to see what happens.

EDIT: I changed the values, and saved the file in the Reader, but they didn't save, so I did the edit in SC4 Tools, it seemed to work.   Maybe someone could tell me what I didn't do with the Reader.

EDIT 2:  I have done some experimenting, and have found that lr is the monorail, and the next two numbers on the list are the 2 oneway roads.  I don't know yet what the last number on the list is.

If I am mistaken about these values, please correct me.

    1) Road
    2) Rail
    3) Highway
    4) Street
    5) unknow, has the value 0 (maybe the ferries)
    6) unknow, has the value 0 (maybe the ferries)
    7) Monorail
    4.gif Ave.
    9) Oneway road
    10)Oneway Raod
    11)Subway
    12)El Rail
    13)Ground highway

If anyone has further information on this I would love to know.

Highways would be one setting, I don't think there would be a difference.  Although I have not determined what numbers 10, and 13 might be.  They could be the ferries, as when they get usage the route colors change.  It seems default for those are 3K, and 4K respectively.

Not knowing what I am talking about, I could be all wet too.
