Help/Tips for 1st BAT?

Hello,

I'm trying to do my first BAT. It's based off of 8150 North Central Expressway in Dallas, TX (the building in the foreground of the pic

Unfortunately, I've never used BAT and I have almost no clue how to work it. I've tried tutorials but I always seem to mess something up, I don't read it correctly, and usually I try to minimize BAT to look at the tutorial and when I go back to BAT it won't let me select the building to make it taller or shorter.

If any of you guys can give help/tips I'd appreciate it.

In all honesty, you'll need to be more specific if you want any tangible assistance here. BATing has a big learning curve, it's not something that can be condensed into a few paragraphs. Before you can really make models, you need to understand how to use the SC4BAT (gMax) application itself. The best way to get familiar with that IMO is to download the official gMax tutorials from TurboSquid, the same place you'll find gMax. Otherwise if written tutorials aren't working for you, perhaps you'd find some of the video ones on YouTube are more helpful?

If there is a specific part you are stuck with, then it's much easier to give you a proper answer. But asking how to BAT is simply too expansive a question to provide you with a meaningful answer.

Try refreshing the viewports, perhaps switching focus messes with this? Press W to switch between single and multi-view mode, which effectively refreshes the display. Also note that gMax is a very old application, so if you are using a newer PC, there can be compatibility problems. Typically, you will want to use the HEIDI software rendering with gMax. To set that click on Customise / Preferences from the file menu. Then select the Viewports tab and hit the "Choose Driver" button. Make sure that HEIDI and Software Z Buffer are both selected.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I can only tell you that, first you need to know how to use Gmax, then you need to learn how you can make 3d models with the program. After that, you can go to the countless BAT tutorials out there.

You can star with this topic.

I see. Hopefully I do find video tutorials more helpful. Written ones don't seem to work for me I guess.
