No night lighting

hi guys. 

please help me.

i have all latest updates simcity4 deluxe version. also i have patch for night lighting... also i have dark nite mode. but i still cant see lighting in me city. only original maxis buildings.

also i dont know what is different between maxis night and dark night because i see the same night as before.. but no lights...

so help me please what is wrong.

Some plugins do not have the nightlight textures, others must have been built with the dark night textures if you are going to use dark night.  Generally a dark night plugin comes with a choice of either Maxis Night (MN) or Dark Night (DN) of which you can choose either at download time or when you unpack the plugin for insertion into your game's user space (C:\<your account>\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins).

If you are expecting night lights on some buildings, I suggest you check the original source page to see if that is the case.  It is not magic, and it does take some careful choice and management.

Quite often if the author makes both models and packages all this as a single archive (*.zip), and includes a readme file explaining which files to use for which night choice.  This is part of the care and feeding of your plugin zoo.

FWIW when I created my BATs back in the early 2000s, the Dark Night stuff did not exist.

Firstly if you have the CD version of SC4, there are two patches that must be applied before you can see nitelights on custom buildings. The EP1 patch, then the aptly named nitelighting patch.

Assuming those are installed, the building has power and the model was made with lighting (not all creators do), you should be able to see them in-game.

Maxis Night (or default) and Dark Night are just different ways of rendering (producing) the textures you see in game. The latter is designed to work with SimFox's Dark Nite mod, if you don't have this, you should use Maxis Night models. Bear in mind also that Dark Nite is not supported by all models, it's an optional step that again not everyone will take in creation.

but i have all two patches. but still not lights. also i have dark nite mod. and also if i download buildings from stex alwais check if included DN and MN file. and live only one. DN.

so ewerithing i have. but no lights... so i dont know

Night lights are not instant.  Try waiting for most of the night cycle.

If the city is very large, there may not be enough time.  To set permanent darkness press F6.
