Game Crashes After Paradox Interactive Logo

Everytime the game opens, it just crashes... It was all fine yesterday, but now, everytime I start the game today, it crashes ALWAYS.... I need help...

Only a few, but it was all fine yesterday; until, today.... I fixed it today, but now it just won't start.., and I didn't subscribed to anything today after the crash bug. I already verified the game, and unsubscribed to some assets yet no effect today...

I have the same problem a lot of times when I add assets or mods, due incompatibility in any way (specially now with After Dark). Is hard to determine with one is causing you the problem so the best option is go directly to game workshop directory and move out all folders. Then add folders manually from 10 to 10 (or any other amount you want) and go trying.

I don't really know what's causing it... when I play it again (and unsubscribing on the content I do not need now) for about like 3 times of crashing -- the 4th time, it now plays properly, and I do not get a crash... I just hope it gets fixed if it's something, or if it's in the Workshop, it needs to be fixed ASAP...

Have you tried making a custom LUT? Its one of those things that change the ingame color palette.

Okay, now EVERYTIME I start the game, it now always CRASHES... This is getting a SERIOUS gamebreaker issue now... 

I'm gonna need serious help for this... (I tried everything --- unsubscribe to some content, validating files, deleting gamesettings and userGameState) and nothing works..

Detele or move everything from Workshop folder (.../Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/255710), after that, remove GameSettings and UserGameState and restart Steam. (For unknown reasons sometimes Steam make the game crash and then Steam crashes too with Visual Basic error).

So, uh... this is a late post since it seems that I got the game working again after unsubscribing to some "garbage" assets, yet I'm very disappointed that I might do collateral damage to the game and my city all just to make this game work. Before After Dark, I got about 1000+ resources, now about 980s all to playing this game...

I HAVE THE ANSWER IT'S A LITTLE ANNOYING BUT go to program files Steam Workshop DELETE ALL ASSETS from the numbered folders.  HEY PRESTO!

Hi,

I had the same problem and maybe I fixed it. My Game crashed with more than 925 assets. I just deleted gameSettings.cgs and userGameState.cgs under: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines and it worked again! I even could add 200 Assets which I temporarly removed back to the assets folder. Now I'm trying to subscribe some new Assets and see what's happening.

negative, after subscribing about 150 more assets, the problem occurs again and deleting the gameSettings did not resolved it. I posted a thread in the paradox support forum. Please leave a reply here, so CO would fixes this - that is my hope...

Download the Improved Assets Panel mod, I don't how it works but it just does. Before I used the mod the game would not load up if I had more than 2GB of assets/mods, using this mod and I can add in as many assets as I like.

I have subscribed this mod and unsubscribed it a few minutes ago (deleted the folder). With or without this mod - the game doesn't start.

Have you unsubscribed from all the Steam assets? It is not enough to delete them, one must go to the workshop and directly unsubscribe from each asset- one by one.

I always do this when I subscribe to something very essential to me. Furthermore, I always unsubscribe to all useless assets, yet sometimes this happens, and it made me to remove some of them mods/maps/assets/whatever by force. I just hope this "limit" increases soon, so we may have more assets that are useful to us.
