These office buildings are excellent! We need more low-rise, mid-rise office buildings in SimCity. The textures are of superb quality, same goes for the details.

If its Georgian your after you could do no wrong with the wonderful arcutechture of Newcastle upon Tyne, specifically the great works of Grainger, Dobson and Clayton.

We shall start off with the old assembley rooms, which replaed an earlier one opposite, now serves as a conference centre and is a popular choice for weddings (I almost decided on this for my wedding venue)

    CastleMoot[1].jpg

This is the Central Exchange Building which was intended by Grainger to be a new corn market, but the council left this at the Bigg Market, its construction was based on was based on the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli. It occupies a trianngular site and has a small shopping arcade witin.

Here you can see the Grainger street end with the Barclays Bank branch.

    Centex_Grainger_End[1].jpg

Here is the Monument/Grey Street end, the Lunn Poly closed a few years ago and was then a shoe shop but now is the North East first Pret A Manger (ugh).

    Centex_Grey_Market[1].jpg

Inside the Central Exchange lie the central arcade, the original was destroyed by fire in 1906 and was rebuilt into its original form. This arcade house serval shops ranging from a musical instruments shop to the local TIC, unwins and a Lush!.

    Courthouse[1].jpg

The Emmerson building at Monument is now home to a branch of Waterstones (there is another on directly opposite as well!!)

    Gmon_Aloft_Emmerson[1].jpg

This pub was once the Town Hall and County Council Chambers for the Twon & County of Gosforth just to the north of Newcastle city centre, its name is a reminder to the disgruntled citizens of Godforth that they really are a little town of thier own, oh its the posh part of town populated by a buch of rich snobs and Northern Rock!

    TSB_Grainger_Yates[1].jpg

Here is the TSB building which is now a Sports Cafe, it had a rather nasty accident a few years back, a builder (the pilock shall remain unnamed but rest assured I do know him), knocked down the wrong wall which happended to be a supporting wall, the interior of the building collapsed, damageing the metro tunnels, and cause one lane of the street to be closed for 18 months as builders tried to repair it! The exterior thank God was saved.

    QuayGuildhall[1].jpg

This fountain originally stood outside the anglican catherdral church but was moved to the Bigg market to be outside the old city hall, which has since been demolished and replaced with the Civic Centre towards to the University end of the city centre.

    SnicRd_StNich_Chambers[1].jpg

Newcastle's pride and joy and the pinincle of all of Grainger's work the Theatre Royal seen here behind some fencing when the street was being relaid a few years back. this Theatre is on Britains nicest street Grey Street.

    Tyne_Theatre[1].jpg

So there you go a smaple of Newcastl's fine Georgian buildings, its also intresting to note that Newcastle has the highest number of listed Georgian buidlings outside of London and Bath.

Wow. 31.gif Nice detail! Looks like a historic government building or perhaps a library/museum. Any idea what it'll turn out to be?

My idea was for the Brennt Shores National Library, if you look closely you can see the brennt shores flame on the marble texture.

One Canada Recreation Project Version 2

I have started working on another version of One Canada Square, my original version moddelled on GMAX was very basic and not true to the real thing, so i am now trying it out on my new copy of 3dsmax7.

Heres what i have done so far:

    One Canada Square
Here we have the top, the basic modelling is done here, also note we are still on the basic texture for the large windows.

    One Canada Square
The main windows, this takes up the bulk of the structure, also regarding the gap between the windows, this will look like simple grooves in the rendered version (intentional).

    One Canada Square
    Another view on the windows.

I cant wait for this new version. The One Canada Square is actually one of my favorite bats on ST, so I can't wait for this new version to come out. By the looks of the modelling, it looks absolutely awesome. Great work Tonks!!!!!

I have been playing with the lobby overhang, on my original model you may notice that the overhang isnt curved, i couldnt see the curve in the pictures i had but a visit to canary wharf on tuesday has taught me otherwise.

Are you just doing the base or are you going to create the shopping centre that is joined to it?

If you don't want it as part of the lot you could always have it as an over-hanging prop on another lot.

PS: What does your sig mean ie "You can't have your pudding..."?

Im not going to do the shopping centre, it includes the DLR station so the whole model would have to be made a station rendering the tower useless, allthoug making an overhang could be a good idea.

On and my signiture is from Pink Floyd, The Wall.

There's a way to make a dual RCI/transit station lot. Rubick3 somehow made each twin tower of his first WTC a mega subway station/CO$$$ lot.  Raphaelninja may have made a dual-use functional blank lot set for that. It'd be in the Modding files, and if you follow his instructions on how to use them it may just work!  I don't believe that there is any way to have both CS and CO jobs on 1 lot, so the mall would have to be seperate. 15.gif

In the meantime, what ya got right now blows away your already excellent  1CS! I like it w/o the mall because it's easier to place this beauty in my cities. 4.gif
